1. I did. 1980-81. (Right over the New Year holiday)
It was pretty minor, but I also hate going under. There was some residual soreness for a couple weeks after the surgery.

2. yes, and I had a local anesthetic
I hate the thought of being intubated, and demanded a local. I was awake but felt no pain. This was about 20 years ago. Ask your doctor if you can't just have a local anesthetic.

4. it's not even that painful now
only when it has pressure on it - and in the mornings but it needs taken care of
