This story will bring a tear to your eye.
Sunday, a family of 9 were coming through Utah when their motor home drove off the over pass of I-15 just outside of SLC. The two parents died, as well as four of their nine children, two other children are still in the hospital.

I-15 crash victims were going home

A family whose motor home plunged off an overpass on Interstate 15 in Draper on Sunday was just passing through Utah on the way home to Washington state after sightseeing in Arizona over the holidays.

Mark Mattila, who was driving, was killed instantly along with his children Max, 7, Katie, 6, Marci, 4, and Adam, 5 months. Margerie Mattila died Sunday evening after being flown to the hospital in critical condition that afternoon. The family is from West Richland, Wash.
Brent Mattila, 12, remained in critical condition Monday at Primary Children's Medical Center, and Misty Mattila, 18, was listed in stable condition at LDS Hospital.
Two other boys, Jordan Mattila, 14, and Shane Mattila, 9, were released within two hours of being treated Sunday afternoon. They are staying in a Salt Lake City area hotel with an aunt who arrived from Washington state, according to Laray Brown, regional director for the Salt Lake Valley Division of Child and Family Services.

I couldn't imagine finding out that BOTH my parents were killed, and that four of my brothers and sisters had died too.

1. Wow... Was this near the prison?
I drove that piece of I-15 for years and I have never seen anything so devastating. Thanks for sending this along.

2. Terrible thing - reminds me of an accident scene we saw same hiway
We were returning to the Denver area after a rafting trip in Idaho in '97. Heading south on I15, about 20 minutes south of Twin Falls, we came upon an accident scene, pulled over and joined other motorists to try to help out. A Ford minivan was upside on the wide grassy median, toys and luggage scattered everywhere. The father was being treated for deep gashes, two kids bleeding, one with a broken arm, all asking for their mother.

She was still in the van, crushed in the driver's seat. She had been driving north and fell asleep.

The kids still didn't know by the time we left the scene. That afternoon has stayed with me ever since. Honestly, I can say it changed me.
