So who can talk to me about Neon Genesis Evangelion ?

I ran in to this on ebay. Who or what is it? It is anime I suppose.

Who likes anime?

but everything I do see I wind up liking at least a little bit. It's definitely something worth looking into.

I've seen Cowboy Bebop a couple of times and thought it was good. Seen a smattering of other stuff and liked it too. Guess now there's an all anime network out, but it's still not in the Vegas market. :(

And I like Evangelion. It gets "strange" in the second half though.


The story takes place in post apocalyptic Japan. Tokyo is regularly attacked by strange giant aliens; only gigantic robots controlled by 14-year olds can stop the Invasion.
Underlying is a huge conspiracy, steering the events.


On Edit: I can't get over the "German" spoken by one of the pilots. Both, the English and the Japanese Version, use a meaningless stream of German words. The Japanese Version does a little better IMHO /has the better excuse, as the Japanese speaker has *almost* a German accent.

The Anime in itself, especially the earlier episodes are among the best Anime has to offer, technically as well as plotwise.

Lots of amazing animation and tech with cool religious overtones. It kind of drops off in quality near the end though.
