1. Bought the CD for a problem dog.
Our German Shepherd went totally apeshit during thunderstorms.
We tried the Dog Whisperer techniques and they did absolutely nothing.
Sorry.

3. Try Bach's rescue remedy.
It really does seem to calm most animals down. You can get it at a health food store.

2. My dog doesn't whisper ... at least not in my presence. He does burp.
And pass a wee bit o' gas, however.

6. He's dangerous.
He's been bitten and the dogs don't always react well. I suspect his show is heavily edited.

I agree that projecting a calm, assertive attitude is calming for dogs. However, there are other factors that won't be as easily solved.

8. I like the show and some of his tips work.
However, his biggest tool is wearing out dogs with tons of exercise. Not all of us have that kind of time/energy. After all, this is his JOB.

He's the Dr Phil of dogs.

10. I'm leery of anybody who suggests there's an easy fix and his show seems to suggest that.
I think that a calm demeanor and an expectation of obedience will go a long way, but he makes it look like that will immediately undo established behavior problems and I don't think that's reasonable. It takes time to train and reinforce a bad behavior and time to establish a good one instead.

Oh, and this is concerning. Who knows if it's true or not, but there's no legitimate reason to put a healthy dog on a treadmill, they need the stimulus and social interactions of a walk outside as much as the activity. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12648003/

11. Cesar Milan is one of my all time heroes.
Of which only 4 are still living! His book is an excellent read too. This man started out here in America as an illegal Mexican immigrant. Now he is educating the world as to how dogs think, and most who have heard his words are thankful for them. He is contributing significantly to my understanding of the dog/human relationship and the overall happiness of my dog. I repeat his philosophy about pack leadership to dog owners I encounter whenever I get the chance.
Highly recommended.

But I've seen so little it would be unfair of me to judge.

15. Like the show. Advice is outdated. CAVEAT...
The show and the advice is brilliant. You have to adjust and use the advice for what it can do for you.

For what it's worth...the "Dog Whisperer" has quite the stable. I am impressed, to say the least...no...I'm in awe of what they've done.

Take that for what it's worth. That, that is the best advice.

16.  I think he does alot of good in extreme cases
He seems to understand dog psychology...and I love the fact that he points out that so much of the time the problem is the owner.

17. As a cat person
I enjoy watching his show. He does mention that the people have to keep working with their pet. That it takes time. He can hardly show every minute in an hour show. He evens shows that even he gets bit but he doesn't blame the animal.
