Geek Question Re: EAC rips.
Shit - DUers know everything, so I may as well give it a go.

I'm in the long, arduous process of archiving my cd collection onto a NAS for streaming to my home stereo system via a SqueezeBox. I'm encoding everything in FLAC.

Last night I ripped a Buena Vista Social Club cd that had some trouble. EAC was throwing up some timing errors, and the last few songs of the cd took FOREVAH! It completed though, so I figured everything must have worked out okay - EAC is known for ripping the cds other programs choke on. At first I thought maybe the drive was having trouble, and it was definitely HOT when the cd finally completed. It handled the very next disc thrown it's way without incident however.

When I listened to the BVSC later via the SqueezeBox the last part of the album has a lot of skipping and many errors. I'd like to re-rip the sucker, but I'm not sure what I can do to make it a more flawless rip.

Any suggestions?

BTW - this was a BRAND NEW cd and opened for the first time just to rip.

Try CDex maybe?

(Also: Maybe the cd is copy protected? Check the back of the case, should say if it is.)
