Teenager set on fire in filming of stunt video
WINNSBORO, La. -- The state fire marshal's office planned Sunday to investigate an incident in which a Franklin Parish teenager was set on fire, reportedly while others filmed a stunt video.

Ric Abbott, a senior investigator with the State Fire Marshal's office, said a group of people were filming a video Saturday and doused Greg Hill, 18, of Baskin, with gasoline. Another person threw lighted toilet tissue at Hill, who was supposed to jump off a bridge after being set on fire, Abbott said.

Instead, Hill was taken to Franklin Medical Center for treatment of second- and third-degree burns over 40 percent of his body, including his face, Abbott said.

Preliminary reports indicated the group was trying to film a daring trick like those depicted on the MTV show, "Jackass," which features people doing often dangerous stunts on tape.

"Apparently, they were videotaping and he consented to being set on fire," Abbott said.

Hill was airlifted from Franklin Medical to LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport late Saturday. His condition was not immediately available.
