Japan or Korea would win, and then we'd have to nuke 'em.

Seriously — I don't wanna go through all that "dream team" shit again.

15. I don't wanna go through the 'dream team' shit...that's just stupid.
The Olympics are supposed to be for the best AMATEUR athletes in the world. Non-professionals...but to eliminate the sport entirely is just WRONG.

It's not played in enough of the world to make it a good Olympic sport.

I'm all for eliminating about half of Olympic sports on the grounds that about three people on the planet play 'em and/or they're just stoopid.

22. Heeeee...it's true.
A lot of 'em are. But baseball isn't. And there are a LOT of people/countries that play. Take the pros out of it, they shouldn't be in there in the first place. Field a team that consists of college players.

33. Surfing (or to be precise, surfriding)
just because Hawai'i hasn't won a medal since Duke Kahanamoku in '32. :-)

True, the surf breaks near Beijing tend to suck, :P but specific events are often held away from the main Games; the equestrian events in '56 were held in Stockholm, not Melbourne, because of Australia's animal quarantine laws.

55. Poker
You guys have seen http://www.olympic.org/uk/sports/recognized/index_uk.asp, right?

The list of Recognized Sports by the IOC--contains surfing, bridge, chess, motorcycle racing and "airsports" which is hot-air ballooning, aerobatics, gliding and everything you can do with an airplane except turning it into a cattle car or shooting people with it.

The ONLY problems with putting poker in the Olympics are two: most Olympic sports don't require $10,000 buy-ins from the athletes, and it would totally hose gymnastics' ratings.

But seriously, guys, poker would be a great sport for the Olympics. Every country in the world that doesn't have religious extremists running it plays poker. You would have three events: Texas Hold-Em, five-card draw and seven-card stud. People would like it.
