Bluescreen of Death...HELP!!
Does anyone know how to stop my home PC from continually displaying the Bluescreen of Death? Problem is with some program or registry or somethingorother that says "kernel." I know there is some bug in the system that keeps doing this, but don't know how to squash the bug. Any help would be appreciated.

1. Usually have to reload the OS at that point.
The Kernel is a part of the operating system, and if corrupted, not much you can do to fix it short of re-installing the OS...

Hope this helps, but I know what a drag it can be.

2. You could try System Restore
assuming you know when the crashes started and have a restore point from before that time. (My Computer > View System Information > System Restore). I am a total technopeasant, so take this advice with whatever sized grain of salt. However, it is similar to advice found here: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread19233.html. To get advice from the non-technopeasants, you'll need to provide more info such as your computer's model and operating system and especially what the exact message is that shows up on the blue screen. Good luck!

6. I tried that...but so far I get a message afterwards
that the machine couldn't restore to the check points I've chosen. I'll keep trying. Thanks.

3. Have you done any Windows and/or antivirus updates recently?
I learned the hard way that sometime Windows updates and virus updates clash and can cause it.

4. Yes. Just updated Norton's...
on Windows XP. And, a scan was being run, at least once when it bluescreened on me. Thanks.
