Need tech help...PLEASE! Can't view the Africam and it's breakin' my heart!
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 05:37 PM by Whoa_Nelly
:hi:

My laptop crashed (again!), and I had to do a complete restore (thank Jenis all my best photos are on PhotoBucket!)

MusicMatch Jukebox keeps wanting to come up as the default browser to view the Africam site. Prior to the KERRASH!! Windows Media was my default viewer.

I hate Jukebox, never use it, avoid using it, and don't want the updates, and all the other garbage that it wants to GIVE me...like it's a friggin' present for my computer or something... Jeez Louise!

So, HELP! How do set Windows Media Player as my default? Right now when I go to the Africam site, I either get the Jukebox popping up, or just an audio Windows Media visual (swirly and movin' to the groove of the African sounds) on the cam screen.

Thanks in advance for any and all help and advice! :pals:

PS Am running Windows XP Home, and have just added 7.0 Flashplayer

(Am heading out for an hour or so to finish up Xmas shopping...will check back on this thread... Mucho Grasses All!)

1. Hope this helps:
Go to --> Workplace --> Extras --> Folder Options --> File types (or something like that, I have it in German here.)

Look for the files that Jukebox opens as default and change them back to be opened by mediaplayer by default.

3. Yay! Done! Thanks, CMW! You always come through!
Went to Control Panel/Folder Options/File Types and made the change...but now...still getting the visual swirlies instead of cam pic feed. Am using this URL: http://www.wavelit.com/index.asp?ch=Wildlife&sh=africam# When going to the site before the crash, Windows Media opened it up. So, if there is a better/different URL, sure would love to have it.

Thanks, again, CMW! You are aces in my book! :hi: :pals:

5. Try this one:
mms://live.wildlife.wavelit.net/451OK

If asked, accept opening it with media player.

2. If you hate MusicMatch Jukebox....
maybe you should uninstall it. And run Windows Update, make sure you have the latest version of WMP installed.
