Who else will be totally teetotaling tonight?
Even in my drinking days I avoided the New Year's scene like a shrub press conference.

I'll be soberly curled up with the Ken Burns "Blues" series marathon on Denver Public TV, and virtual raging here at DU.

Whaddyadoin'?

3. Me...
I've drank enough for this life time. Think I'll save it for the next one.

I will have an occasional drink of wine, but I enjoy spending New Year's Eve with family, including the fourteen year-old daughter and four of my six grandchildren.

4. Sober for three months...
I'll be celebrating 3 months of sobriety tomorrow, so I'll be
dry tonight as well.

7. Congratulations King!
After about 30 years of heavy drinking and stomach damage, I quit 5 years ago and was amazed how easy it was, not to mention all the cash I've saved.

8. Congrats
I have been free from alcohol for nearly 6 years. I congratulate on your sobriety and wish you well on the journey ahead.

Be sure and find a sobriety checkpoint tonight -- nearly all cities have them on New Year's Eve -- and drive through it, sober and proud, seat belt buckled, etc. Makes you feel wonderful to not be afraid anymore.

10. Welcome to the King...
Glad to have you here. It is often a sobering place to be!

And congratulations on your three months! My husband now has over 10 years, one day at a time!

12. congratulations King
you're almost finished with the triple crown of alcoholism: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.

I'm the midnight speaker at an alcathon tonight.

5. Totalling Tea for Me
New Year's Eve is usually just another reminder of how lonely and how much of a loser I am. So tonight, I'm just going to stay home, alone, by myself, and re-write my suicide note.

9. Am the designated driver for tonight's dinner...
And I don't drink the coffin-varnish anymore, but when I get home this evening, um, it'll my time to relax with a bit of nature's finest... :smoke:

11. I will.....
we have a special service at my church called "Watch Night," and we'll share a meal after the service, and take communion at midnight. It's fun, especially driving through the checkpoints on the way home. :-)

13. Me
Been there done that, etc.

I stopped drinking alcohol about 5 years ago because of medication I was taking and I've pretty much stayed that way ever since. I'll have a glass of wine with a good meal about once a year but that's it.

So 2004 will be toasted with sparkling cider tonight at my house.
