Your least favorite type of Xmas cards?
Mine would be the ones of a couple on some foreign trip in front of some obscure monument, just a picture card saying "Seasons Greetings" with no news or explanatory notes on the back!!

Also ones just showing the kids with a generic greeting and no news on the blank reverse side. You know they have kids but what else is going on??

12. I'm not too fond of those either, though if I know that the sender
tends to be religious, then I can accept that.

18. Agree on the religious ones
Thankfully, most of the people who I get Christmas cards from are not very religious so I don't usually get those cards.

21. same here
everyone in my family knows that I'm an Atheist. a certain born again in my family insists on sending me overly religious cards. so last year instead of a cutesy Christmas card, I sent a bland "season's greetings" card to him.

17. I hate those too.
Annoying powdery stuff. Reminds me too much of the itchy old angel hair on the trees!

9. The ones from the funeral home our family has used through the years
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 04:28 AM by ProudToBeBlueInRhody
They've got their whole family, the kids, everyone in front of the place.

"Merry Christmas, hope not TOO Happy a New Year!!!!!"

I mean really, that IS what they are getting at.

11. We got one from our old vet's
the year that one of our kittens died due largely to their grotesque negligence. We never got one before and never got one after. It was kind of a "Sorry we killed your kitten, but enjoy the holidays anyway." I probably don't need to explain why they are now our ex-veterinarian.

10. I hate the ones written by the baby.
There is a couple of people who do this. They used to be normal people at one time, after they had kids I would have to read pages about the Teletubbies and other nonsense.

14. Dear Abby once said something wise about this...
When somebody asked her if she should show her co-workers the latest pictures of her baby, she replied "One think to keep in mind is that people either have children of their own, or they don't". I thought that was terrific.

15. Messy, Preachy, Guilt-Tripping, or Greedy
Messy - do we really need a pound of glitter or fake snow to fall out of the envelope?

Preachy - I don't mean a religious message. I mean a "thou art damned, heathen" card with a patronizing "we're praying for you."

Guilt-Tripping - "Even though you don't return my billions of messages, I still miss you soooooooo much. Even though I've only met you once."

Greedy - seriously, I have a cousin that sends out a "wish list" every year, full of outrageously expensive gifts. (PS3 anyone?). Just not appropriate in a Christmas card. Fool.

23. The ones that are just family pictures
We've gotten two of them so far, just a picture, nothing else, not signed, no kiss our merry ass nothing. I'd rather they spen .25 at the thrift store for a package of old cards and sent us family pictures in one of them.

24. Yes, a picture is NOT worth a thousand words
or even a few patagraphs, in this case.
