Okay, Did Anyone Have A WORSE New Year's Than Me?
For those who are wondering where I was last night, I was passed out, face-down in my bathroom with my head propped up on some towels.

I think I started drinking early and by about 10:30 I was hammered, with about ...um... maybe 8 kamakazi drinks that I consumed in about a half hour.

So I missed the ball dropping because I was either throwing up or finding a nice comfortable spot on my bathroom floor to sleep on.

Happy New Year!

So, anyone's night rival mine in terms of suckyness?

2. I have the flu.
I spent the evening fighting a chill :scared: under two comforters and two quilts. I didn't see the ball drop, didn't care whether it dropped or not.

13. I was passed out from Nyquil
although ironically my cat Abbie woke me up about 3 minutes of midnight.

Somehow he knew and wanted to give me a kitty kiss

22. He's named after another famous Abbie
Nothing was more precious than telling my neo-conservative brother that I named my cat after Abbie Hoffman.

Technically (like the human Abbie), his name is Abbott.

Anyhow, in 3 weeks he won't be much of a he anymore

:eyes:

And he likes the name Abbie - he responds to it too!!! I'm proud to name my cat after someone like Abbie Hoffman. I would have liked to have named him Jimmy, after Jimmy Carter. But I have a coworker with that name and it seemed weird to use that one.

Edited on Thu Jan-01-04 09:52 AM by Magic Rat
And the first time ever from my favorite drink. The other time was with this absolutely putrid stuff called 99 Bannanas which was bannana-flavored vodka. UGH.

Supposedly my best friend also called me at midnight, but I have no recollection of the conversation. :D

5. no, but I had an unauspicious start to 2004
Coming in from fetching my First Foot stuff just after midnite (cold sober), I hooked the curb with my toe and fell, wrenching muscles and taking the hide off my knee, elbow, and most fingers. Gobbets of blood and gore. Very stiff and sore today, covered in band-aids. Ouch.

(strangely, the three bottles of beer I had in the tote bag all survived unbroken despite the noise they made hitting the sidewalk)

20. In Scotland,
the person who's first to set foot over your doorsill brings your year's luck with: food, drink, money, fuel. It's all symbolic, the person needn't bring a sack of groceries with, just tokens. But rather than trusting to chance in the US, I first-foot myself to be sure I get everything! So the tote bag held a tin of coconut milk, a bottle of fizzy water, a piece of wood, and a $20 bill (and the 3 bottles of beer, but they were just along for the ride).

6. Well since I have to be out of here in a month & I don't have "the" guy...
Edited on Thu Jan-01-04 10:03 AM by tjdee
I spent time packing...I'm not sure where I'm going yet so it's hard to pack right...discovered "the" guy has been visiting my website religiously but not e-mailing/calling....he was probably kissing (and god knows what else!) his girlfriend last night even though he belongs with me--UGH. I irritate mySELF thinking useless nonsense like that. Plus...have to move. I have to figure out what to do with the kid and a new school...how to afford blah blah blah...bad stress...taking a toll physically...

I've been trying to keep a low profile at DU so I don't get all pathetic on y'all :nopity: .

But--my New Year's Eve did really suck. :-(
Ah well-- a new year and all of that.

14. No, and I'll bet you don't do that again for 365 days...
I can't remember when I started drinking cider rather than booze for most of the night, but it was about the same time that I began having memories of parties, remembering the lines to all the jokes, and waking up on New Year's morning able to stand the smell of breakfast cooking. Which is to say it was about the time I got old.

17. I bet no one had one more dull than me
No drinking involved at all. By 10, all the kids were asleep and I was here for a brief time, then I tried to flirt with my husband a little. Why I even bother at this point, I'm not sure (perhaps complete celebacy appeals to me even less than he does). Nothing happened (he was too tired) and by 12:10, I was asleep.

18. I went over to my sister's,
nursed one drink the whole time, kissed my husband at midnight, came home and then was unable to sleep. I was up until 7 a.m. I think I slept a little, until 10, finally climbing out of bed and here I am. I can't stand this insomnia. I probably should have drank more, but I am scared of getting sick. I must be getting old. New Year's Eve doesn't have the appeal it used to have.

39. Actually...
...drinking a lot will not help you sleep. You may pass out, but a good hunk of alcohol will interrupt your sleep patterns, and viola! You'll be awake at 3:30 in the morning.

Try some turkey. :-) (And not Wild Turkey) Sorry you got insomnia. That just sucks.

Many moons ago, I learned a valuable lesson. No more than one drink every half hour, or you'll be praying to the porcelain god all through the night and the next morning.

I'm sorry you had such a bad night, I spent mine at home wishing I were elsewhere instead of with this dork. I also, however, had a great night here at DU!

29. My night was OK, but I bet my NY Day is gonna rate as bad.
I got up this morning and discovered a major bladder infection had sprung up. I'm pissing blood and off to find a Doc in some "Convenient Care" clinic that my HMO requires. Without fail, they screw up tests and you wait for a couple hours to even see a Doc. Last time I had to use this thing they lost my test results and left me on some antibiotic that the bacteria was resistant to.

I WISH I had just a hangover...

33. Asparagus and unsweetened cranberry juice
My bladder infection is improving remarkably well without antibiotics by eating tons of asparagus and endlessly drinking cranberry juice. Doc says to drink the water in which you cook the asparagus, too. Think of it as soup.

It was pleasant hanging with you Canadians here last night. Ultimately I went back to our restaurant. Famously bedroom community, everyone left by 11:45 and we left the Associate GM to lock up. we were home an drinking champagne at 12:05

So technically I spent New Years alone in my car with Ozzy on KROQ.

But now you have that added perspective of knowing , Hey Hey, it's only one night, a Wednesday at that.

40. Well, Happy New Year, anyway!
Lesson number one, NEVER drink bar alcohol, the cheap stuff makes everyone sick, Ketel One is a very good vodka, no hangover. Although, I have never drank that many drinks at one time or in one evening for that matter, 8 kamakazis is a bit much.
I had a nice evening, dinner with friends at a local Indian restaurant, few games of bowling and toasted in the new year at my place.

Compared to the other painkillers, I like Vocodin precisely because it doesn't get me high. However, I had some physical therapy in the morning, and I didn't want to be in pain on New Years Eve, so I took a 2nd one. Big mistake.

S.O. came in from work at about 2330 and made a drink the same as I was drinking. Sat on the couch silently. Got up at 2355, poured the drink down the sink (ouch) and grunted and went up to bed (ouch again). Do you think there was some kind of message there?

I didn't bother mentioning it this morning. I think I got the point.
