Oh man...Hangovers suck...
This is what I get for only drinking once or twice a year...THe vomiting seems to have ceased, and the migraine is receding. I can remain upright for more than 30 seconds, and I think I'm gonna make it. Thank the lawd for the wacky weed, which finally calmed my poor stomach...ugh.

Happy New Year!

My dad said if I feel this shitty today, I can only go up from here in the coming year!

1. It probably wasn't the drinking
You were probably getting 2003 out of your system. Flush the toilet and have a Happy New Year!

7. Not so much
3-4 big bloody marys with generous amount of Absolut Peppar. Drank too fast, ate too little, and I paid for my sins. In the good old days that amount of alcohol would'nt have made me ill at all, but alas, I am getting older.

14. I've been there too many times
From the period of 1987 until 1997 I was a heavy drinker. It started while I was in the Navy and got progressively worse over time.

Even though I was a minor during the period of 1987-1989, my shipmates at Pearl Harbor didn't have any issues with letting me drink beer with them.

I woke up with a hangover many, many times. Accompanied by blackouts. Those were simply horrible days where I'd spend it in bed or at the toilet throwing up.

When I turned 21 in 1990, the drinking got worse. I was knocking down something with alcohol almost every day.

After I got out of the Navy, the drinking continued. Then I went through a phase where I was drinking beer and hard liquor.

I made many vows to stop drinking, which I broke a few too many times. But I'd say by 1998 I had essentially given up on drinking. Now, in 2004, I have maybe one or two beers every few months. I purchased one of those big cans of Foster's Lager for New Years last night and drank maybe 1/3 of it.

My message to the kids is this: if you're going to drink, do NOT mix beer with hard liquor. I know there's a poem that tells you what order to drink beer and hard liquor. Believe me, you'll reach a point where you will not remember the poem and will be knocking down shots of tequila followed with beer and by the end of the night you'll be throwing up somewhere, followed by the horrible hangover. It just isn't worth it.
