Who likes the Mummers Parade?
I'm not crazy about it, but I think it's much more entertaining than the boring and unimaginative Rose Parade. I think everyone should go to Philadelphia at least once to see the parade...especially since they shortened it to 9 hours now.

Who else likes the Mummers?

1. They are great!
Saw the parade only once, about 20 years ago, but thoroughly enjoyed it!

2. My favorite part is the string bands....
Ed Rendell had a Mummer string band at his Gubernatorial Inaugural Ball and his victory parties, and they were great. A Mummer band and a strong Democratic victory...it couldn't have gotten much better.

This year they moved the parade back to Broad Street from Market and cut it by about 4 or 5 hours to try to get the attendance back up, since they lost some big corporate sponsors in the past few years.

3. Was there last year...
after missing it for maybe ten years, and it was still fun, even with the abbreviated route. No one puked on my feet this time, either.

One of the few parades I'll go to.

4. oh, those golden slippers
visited Philadelphia a couple of times back in the early-mid '80s ... always freezing outside ... too cold for me to stand out there without going into a bar to get warm ... so, only caught glimpses ... if I recall, it's a very long parade ...

nothing like seeing a union local in feathers ... tres gay ... :)

5. It started at 9 am...
and ended at 6 pm today. And with temperatures about 50 degrees, it was a real nice day...I wish I was there instead of watching it on my TV 80 miles away.
