Is Audioslave the new Led Zeppelin?
I was listening to the album by Audioslave, which is damn good for anyone who still lives under a rock and hasn't heard it. I ask this mainly because I am a Zeppelin fan and think that their awesome. There is a lot of diversity of their music. There also seems to be some diversity to Audioslave. The other thing is it has probably been one of the best albums I have heard in the last four or five years, with only foo fighters and Sevendust coming close to that.

6. no way...
they lost the whole hip-hop element when Cornell took De La Rocha's spot... 2 songs sounds like rage songs... Cochise and Show me how to live... rest is a fair balance between the two... but the songs have become more melodic and flowing rather than the abrupt hip-hop style of De La Rocha. this stuff is closer to mainstream rock than rage was. my vote is they sounds like soundgarden... i loved the old rage stuff but i found audioslave to be decent at best, still better than most, but not better than rage.

2. they are good yes...
but only time can tell if they will stay good... the band formed out of the ashes of 2 of the very popular bands, there was alot of pent up creative energy to unleash here, years worth infact... it will be kind of revealing to see how they fall into another album pattern, and if the old crossover rage and soundgarden fans will keep buying records. me, ill keep listening to whatever Morello plays, i think they will be around awhlie at any rate. id be happy if they were the next Zeppelin. lol

5. At First I Was A Little Dissapointed...
when I heard it. I got a few MP3's of their early studio sessions and didn't think that they blended all to well. This coming from big SG and RATM fan. I don't think they are the new Led Zeppelin but they are pretty good and have grown on me quite a bit. Funny how most great albums are that way with me.

I was never a huge RATM fan, but like you was a huge SG fan. I think that without Zach, Rage lost their bite. It was the politics that made the whole feel of Rage what it was. The tension.
Also, Chris' lyrics just don't seem to fit Rage's music as well. I felt that Chris lyrics sounded best with a distorted Kim Thayil-style, sitar-like guitar section behind him. Like "Holy Water" on "Badmotorfinger."
Audioslave just doesn't make the whole equal to the sum of its parts. Its almost as if you can hear BOTH Soundgarden and Rage in their music, but it never seems to come together.
Its a semi-solid album, none the less. Better than anything else that came out at the time. Definitely not in the same solar system as Led Zeppelin.

7. I do love them...
FooBoys. Gotta love Grohl's attitude, as well as that delightfully crunchy music.

8. I like the album
and yes I appreciate the little bits of diversity, which are so sorely lacking in modern albums, but I'm not sure about the Zep comparison. They do play a lot of riff-based songs, like Zep. I'm a HUGE Zeppelin fan, too, btw.

I actually thought the latest White Stripes album reminded me more of Zep, especially the slide work and the outright bluesly stuff. Thought the record was just okay, overall, though.

But with the way the music biz is today, I don't look for anything approaching Zeppelin any time soon. No one today has the freedom with their songs they had back then.

9. That is an absurd question.
The answer is no, not even close, in my humble opinion.

12. rageless
nah i don't think they're the new Led Zeppelin. The tune sounds the same as rage, but not as angry as it used to be. Cornell suck!!

14. One album is not enough to make that determination
I like it, don't get me wrong. The potential is there for some great music in the future too, but I've got to take a wait and see attitude on them and I hope they can put out something new soon.

It's called "Hammered". It's a real good metal album:bounce: One of the best I've heard in a long time.
