Poll question: Who will be Christmas shopping tomorrow? What's your gender?
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 10:11 AM by Richardo
Tomorrow is the harmonic convergence of 1) the last Saturday before Christmas and 2) the last shopping day before Christmas. It should be by far the busiest, craziest, most infuriating day in retail for the entire year.

Who has no choice but to go out in it? My theory: Mostly procrastinating guys. Thankfully, I am not one of them this year.

1. My shopping is pretty much done, but the whole family is going
out today to have a nice lunch together and just hang out with each other.

I have to say, how did I ever shop before the internets?

Merry Christmas, Richardo. And, I hope you have a wonderful New Year.

2. Thanks, Midlo - same to you and yours...
:pals:

(And I'm with you on the internet thing - I did a mix of both 'real' and on-line shopping, including e-bay. That's fun!)

3. I'm currently bidding on a North Face Denali jacket for TeenMidlo
:eyes: Of course, the one she wants is sold out everywhere, but I did find one on ebay, so I'm hoping to win it.

At this point, I'll gladly pay more than it cost in the stores, just to get the darned thing for her. The other two got exactly what they asked for, so I really want to get this for her.

5. I give either the gift of money or buy online for most items
so I don't have to deal with people during what is supposed to be the "happiest time of the year" but is more likely the most dangerous driving season combined with people who are already tired of bills and shopping and preparing for a one or two day celebration..

6. I'm 90% done
One or two more things to get. I hate the plastic malls, in this case I'll make an exception just to be in and out in twenty minutes.

7. I've procrastinated insanely this year.
Therefore, I have 95% of my shopping to do this weekend. Eek. Wish me luck.

8. I'm going to try and finish up tomorrow...
actually, I'm going to try finishing up today but realistically I might not make it because I'm expecting two packages from UPS that are supposed to get here today and someone has to be here to sign for them. And there's still Sunday.

I do NOT want to have to shop on Sunday.

The bonus is that the Broncos play tomorrow afternoon, so maybe...maybe that'll help. And, in my defense, I lost two days to weather and impassable roads so today I have to gird my loins and venture forth into the fray.

Pray for me.

10. I am supposed to find out what I need to do tonight
I told my wife that I would LOVE to go out tomorrow in full speed shopping and really ruin some Christmas spirit SHE on the other hand wants the family to lalala hold hands and go together

:grr:

We'll see.

I just got tickets to the UVa Gonzaga game from an actual professional ticket broker-a jr. in college his "Scretary" (ratty looking apartment) even included his business card.

I then tried to find something to put the tickets in so I figured I would go get Kuo's book about the Bushies using the RW fundies (my brother is a Repub but he would get off on that) and ended up in what appears to be a used bookstore. Really nice looking outside and in-in some pricey real estate but the book selection was OLD I mean OLD. I have no idea how they have been able to stay open.

11. I finished up a few weeks ago. I take all the normal precautions:
dress in loose clothing, wear comfortable shoes, etc. I have a fanny-pack (dork-ness be damned!) too. I also insert a foley catheter so I don't need to take bathroom breaks. A couple of Valium before I leave the house, and I'm good to go!

:hi: Richardo! Merry Christmas!

12. I am a HUGH proponent of shopping online.
Amazon.com saved my ass this year.

I was out shopping for myself earlier today. Madhouse is a nice way to start to describe the atmosphere. I can't IMAGINE what tomorrow and Sunday will be like. :scared:

13. I have one item left to buy,
so hopefully it won't be too stressful and hectic.

I would've been done, except I lost two days to snow. Only took me four hours to dig my car out today :bounce: (I might could have worked faster, but why?)

Happy Christmas to whoever reads this post :D

16. I'll be working...pray for me...
7am-3pm...in a mall of course. Oh if I don't have an emotional breakdown it'll be a miracle. I'm just so tired of all this materialistic crap... Not to mention the idiotic customers I have to deal with ("What year are the calendars for?" I wish I were kidding, but I'm not).

I guess you could say I'm not in the holiday spirit...ha ha.

late. Considering the place is 30 miles away, I may wait until morning.
I hate driving country roads in the rain especially at night. We just got back from picking up a few things and the ditches along the roads were completely filled. :scared:

20. It's usually me, but
I'm not getting anyone presents this year. Got nobody to get them for, really. I might send some stuff overseas, later, but I'm so used to having Christsmases extremely time-shifted (July or August) that I'm in no hurry, and my family overseas knows that my schedule's a little wacky.

Right now I don't know if I'll be alone on Christmas, but -- regardless -- the upshot is that this way's a lot easier. :D

I'm looking forward to Christmas being something I really love again...maybe when/if I have children, that'll happen.

22. No, and I'm a female
I've only giving a couple of gifts away; one is a donation (online), yet another I already purchased online, and the last is a gag gift (which I've already bought).

I do know that a gift I'm getting this year is homemade tourtiere that's gluten free. :9 :bounce: A friend made it at Thanksgiving, and I raved about it.

23. Finished up today.
We skipped the malls and went to the Art Museum and Milwaukee Public Museum instead. (J has a membership at the latter, which brings their prices down to reasonable.)

One trip to Target (Kiddo has no matching socks!) and one trip to Jane_Pippin's store (:hi:) later, and we're done.

25. I thought I was done,
but then I saw how many presents my husband got me, and found out that he didn't get a present for a friend like he said he would, so I'm off to shop today. I don't live in the States, so I won't have to fight insane crowds, so at least that's not a problem.
