I'm all for starting with another neurologist for a second opinion.
Sounds like you're hurting pretty badly and you need to get hold of another doctor if this one doesn't respond to your needs.
Are you in a PPO (choose your own doctor) or an HMO? If so, get hold of the Member Services (or call your insurance company and start with them) department and tell them you're not having any luck in getting a diagnosis from your doctor. Our HMO has a Patient Services Representative at every medical office. Whine and complain to voice mail, then push "0" to get to a live human being and tell them you're ready to come in right now or as soon as possible because you are not getting adequate treatment.
In medicine these days, it's "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." Please Whine And Complain, and don't do it on an Internet website. Or if you do, back it up with calls to doctors and insurance companies.
Tomorrow is a workday for many people. Do it tomorrow, Tuesday, December 26th. You might also recognize that doctors take holiday weeks off -- my primary care doctor is gone until January 2nd, (my book publicists are closed up until then, too.)
However, many HMOs have Acute Care services over the holiday period. Call the basic number and ask.
This might give you some hope. I'm lucky -- my low back pain has eased up after six sessions with a physical therapist. I'm not taking any pain pills now. You need more help.
Feel better... PM me with other details. One thing that sticks with me... bad backs don't just go away. You really have to work on them.
