We could always get Dad to smash his Lillet bottle by bringing up Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure
It would get him so pissed off. We'd wait 'til there was a small break in the conversation at the supper table, especially if Dad had had a bad day, and then my sister and I would look at each other, give a little wink, and one of us would bring up Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure's atheism and Dad would go fucking ballistic!!

He'd rant for a few minutes, we'd keep badgering him with "Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure was a freethinker" and "Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure left the church on his own" and "No one embraced atheism like Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure".

Almost to the second, 8 minutes into the badgering the bottle of Lillet would go out the window, and then my sister and I and mum would laugh our asses off at Dad's reddened, angry face and the exploded tobacco of his hand-rolled Galoises all over the table from when he spit it out screaming, and then he'd slowly smile and laugh along with us realizing that he'd fallen into the trap again. He'd threaten to beat us with some leeks, but he was always joking, and instead would pour some Chartreuse and raise a toast to our pranksterism.

But it was always worth it to see that honey-golden bottle of Lillet sailing across the dining room and out the window, smashing on the sidewalk of the Rue Foucault below us.

6. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother posting these fucking gems of wit.
Edited on Thu Dec-28-06 10:36 PM by Rabrrrrrr
They so rarely get more than one or two responses.

I give the world gold, and they cast aside in favor of shlock.

:grr:

A very disappointed Rabrrrrrr.

And yes, Moet Chandoners are fantastic!! Not like the effeminate poofta-wannabe wankers over at Dom Perignon with their overpriced shit that comes in bottles that they likely masturbated with while watching the fat jiggle on Dom Deloise in their ten thousandth viewing of Cannonball Run, the effete poseurs.

on edit: and you see, that paragraph was a goddamn genius gem, and I bet no one but you notices or even cares. Fucking demoralizing, that is.

8. Well, SORRY we're not as wordly as you are. Jeez, dude, you post about something
that maybe three people know what you're talking about while the rest of us are saying "what the fuck?" and then wonder why nobody responds?

Just some friendly advice to keep you out of the few-replies doldrums.

I mean, hey, if I posted "Squid eating dough in the polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous. Bulbous, also tapered," I'd expect maybe two stoners to reply "Like wow, man Captain Beefheart," but not much more of a response than that.

I can't even imagine what they do, with their brightly colored non-subtle ugly flowered bottles.

14. Oh fer crying out loud, you got a copycat. Quit yer whining!
Do you have any idea how hard it is to copycat something like that? No one else in the entire DUniverse could even have thought of something that sounded like "Roquemaure"!

I was in a high self-pity mode last night for a while.

I don't do that very often. Kind of embarrassing now.

20. Yes - it all started here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x5992435

which led me to thread you linked to. Odd sort of flameware in that one.

I responded in the first thread with a response very much like the OP of this thread, and then realized that something that obscure and hilarious needed its own thread and some embellishment, and thus this thread was created.
