13. Sleeping through the night, nursing well, and a beauty to boot!
Way to go, Mama!! She is gorgeous, and you sound so good. Mine wouldn't sleep through the night after their first round of shots at two months. *sigh* Anyway . . .

As long as I take to knit a baby sweater, I should make it toddler sized. I had to do that for my niece--good thing I made it a big 12 months, since she was born a year ago at the end of January, and it's drying on the rack now. Eeek!

I'm going to see if I can figure that chart out. If I do, I'll let you know. ;)

Have you "met" Dolores? If this is an example of what comes out of his head, he's pretty damn creative--

18. I can teach you. It's what I do.
I teach at the Art Center here in Battle Creek. Swing by Knitty.com's messageboards--all kinds of on-line resources to check out and see if you want to try it or not are on the supernewbie thread or really on any search.

It almost always looks harder than it really is. There is only one stitch, the knit stitch where we pull a loop through another loop. That's it. There are variations on that, though, and that's where it can get tricky. The intarsia on the sweater for the donkey is a bit tricky the first time you do it, but it's not hard.

19. That is such a cute sweater!!
I don't think I am ready for knitting sweaters yet, though!! I am working on a hat right now. I have been making helmet liners, too (have a friend who is in Iraq). Mostly been making scarves. Sweaters just seem so intimidating to me!!

20. If you can make a helmet liner, you can make a sweater.
They have all the same techniques, just more of them. You can cast on, bind off, knit ribbing and stockinette, in the round and in the flat. You're good.

The pattern I use for my "My First Sweater" class I teach is from Knitting Pure and Simple. Very easy, classic sweaters knit from the top down (easier to get the fit right that way). I am sure you could do one of those.

21. I just get so intimidated
Like my first sock. Or should I say the first top of a sock. That is as far as I got. The stitches were coming out uneven, I got frustrated, and I haven't picked it up in about 4 months.

22. Hmmm. There are a couple of possible fixes.
First of all, you probably have changed your personal gauge since you knit that. Four months is a long time to change your knitting ever so slightly. It took me years to get my knitting even, though, but everyone's different.

Secondly, it could be the yarn. Some sock yarns knit up a bit funny and then block beautifully in the wash. Try starting the second sock and seeing if it looks the same as the first. If it does, there's a decent chance it is the yarn.

Finally, it might be the needles. Everyone's hands and yarn are different, so not every needle works with every set of hands and every yarn. I have some needles that almost never work on anything I try. My hands and their finish just don't get along. I keep them around in hopes they'll eventually work with something, but I should probably swap them or donate them somewhere.

Sweaters are just more knitting. Small mistakes are far less noticeable in a sweater because it is so big (afghans are the same way). You might see it, but no one else will except for a knitter, and most of us are too nice to say anything (or we're too scared you'll see the mistakes in ours :) ).
