Somebody start a flamewar or a sex thread or something interesting before I do something desperate and dust the vacuum or something. :scared:

1. Well, my house could use some cleaning.
I've had to resort to DU and blogging to put it off.

2. That's a good idea. I haven't updated my blog in ages.
Now to think of something to say worth reading...

6. Well, I'll try to think of something to say.
Hmmm. I have a thought rolling around like a little snowball in my head. I'll see if it picks up enough snow to become a full-blown idea or not.

5. I just got my flu shot
and now my arm is swollen and I ache all over.

Someone tell us how horrible vacines are. That's always good for a very interesting flame war with good science on both sides.

9. Ug. Is that why I have bad reactions to them?
I won't be able to use my left arm for days. That's a bit of a problem when I walk with a cane or crutches. :(

7. You and me both, sister.
I'm carless today. And feeling out of sorts. And I have a PILE of housework to do. Blech.

I want to read, to sleep, or to magically find the Direction in Life that I've clearly lost. But not yet (too listless). I will try hard to come up with a flamewar fer ya, though (kidding, C-Peg. Kidding).

10. I should at least get out of my pajamas and into real clothes at some point today.
I cleaned up all the Christmas stuff that was lying about. I guess if I can get the clothes off of my bedroom floor and clean up the living room that's good enough. I can't go too nuts, nobody put the trash out this week so I won't have any place to pitch anything if I really go through stuff.

13. LeftyMom, you suck!
I don't mean it, of course, but now you can sit down and write a long dissertation on what an asshole I am. I'm immune to it because one of the personnel people in my office just told me the same thing for not being involved in a fund drive I didn't approve of, so feel free to let 'er rip!

(Reiterating: you don't suck, I'm just trying to help. :) )

15. Well, that's weird. I just had a funny feeling that a Lounger
was being upbraided by his or her HR staff for not being "enthusiastic" enough about company non-business (or not smiling enough, or something silly like that). What was the fundraiser, just out of curiosity?

19. It was a school fundraiser that
focused on one group of kids only (in this case athletes). I only donate to schools when the charity benefits every student. Textbooks and / or whatever else they need are more important than new uniforms (or, in this case, a trip to Canton during the Super Bowl break to see the pro football hall of fame). There so many worthy charities out there for me to donate cash to that I won't even consider coughing up money for what I consider luxury items.

I told the people trying to guilt-trip me into financing this crap that when a charity that matters comes along, I'm all ears - but I will not finance a trip for kids to anywhere unless every fucking kid in the school gets to go.

The people pushing this shit on us are, coincidentally, parents of kids eligible for the trip. Well, fuck them. I'm an asshole for not donating to their boondoggle (the parents would get to go, too)? Fine. They're assholes with polyps. Fuck them.

End of rant.

25. Oooh, that shit burns me up.
Athletics are already so subsidized. I'd really rather we do what other countries do and have sports as an afternoon club thing rather than something that occurs on school facilities with school money.

Tell them if they want to bore their kids with an afternoon of looking at uniforms of players who retired before they were born to pay for it themselves or save a little cash, order takeout on a nasty day and stay home and watch a little ESPN classic.

27. Your answer would have been a better choice.
Mine wasn't nearly that polite. It involved shoving items into places which just didn't have the requisite room. Not overly professional demeanor, but the truth is that I'm just not that nice of a guy. :)

30. What's truly awful is
how the kids who want to go on this trip are portrayed like Katrina or tsunami victims and how it's implied that you're the most reprehensible fuckbag on Earth if you don't open your wallets for them.

17. I haven't told anybody off in almost 48 hours.
I'm trying to keep it that way. Sort of a belated christmas present to the mods.

I try, really I do. But I'm human and some people really deserve it.

Tell the person who gave you a hard time to stop being such a wanker and to do their work at work and their charity at home and to keep their nose out of your wallet.

Did you tell them why you object to the charity? I know sometimes that's no fun (see any thread where the veg/AR people try to explain why Heifer is a bit worse than piling your cash up and burning it for a good example) but it's important to give people the info they need to make informed choices, even if they make bad ones with it.

If I sound really pissed, which I am, just ignore the tone - it obviously isn't because of anyone here. It's just that the gall of some people really gets to me sometimes.

21. How about
bringing a kid into this world is irresponsible because we should be cutting back the population not adding to it. All mother's should have deep shame and guilt for helping to destroy this planet. (I always get a kick out of that one) :)

Oh yeah, and I bet your kids have either had a pet, been to someone's house with a pet -- you awful person you. Contributing to enslaving those poor animals....... :)

28. The cat is definitely contributing to global warming.
I'll believe that she's enslaved when I don't have to scoop poop anymore. Until then, I think she owes me a substantial amount of back wages.

29. Yep. I should give up my car, ride my bike ten miles to work in the rain
and maybe, if I'm lucky, I can get a vespa that runs on french fry grease and attitude or something. Nevermind that I have a kid, since as Rosemary was saying, he's proof that I hate the planet and want us all to die.

I should just go order a whale burger or something while I'm at it.
