What do you collect?
I collect celestial stuff, Laurel and Hardy, and The Addams Family. I am a tad eccentric.

How about you, DU?

91. Ronnie
would be hidden behind the LATimes at breakfast and along with quarterbacking the world political scene, was blissfully unaware that Jane was at the same table. So one morning, she walked out of the house in her bathrobe and never went back. He noticed her absence somewhat later. :)

At least that's what an old time screenwriter told me long ago. The same screenwriter was at "Camp Hal Roach" with Ronnie during WWII and said RR complained that his fellow 'soldiers' either didn't wear their uniforms or were less than satorial when they did. Since they were writers and producers, they reminded Reagan that after the war it would be they who would be writing for and hiring actors. The complaints ceased. His political ambitions, as we know, did not.

BTW, that's a GREAT button.

118. Here you go

Fruit Soup (Fruktsoppa)

1/2 cup of the following dried fruits (adjust to your preference accordingly)
apples
apricots
peaches
pears
prunes
seedless raisins
currants

2 1/2 quarts of water ( you may need more)

1 stick of cinnamon

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup tapioca

juice of half lemon

Soak the dried fruit overnight in about 2 quarts of water. Next morning add cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add sugar. Stir in tapioca into remaining 2 cups of water and cook slowly until transparent. Add lemon juice.

May be served hot or cold, I've always preferred warm.

You may have remembered the fruit soup as being red, they used to add red sago instead of tapioca. If you want it red you could add food coloring, but I wouldn't as I don't believe that the dye is healthy.

You can also leave out which ever fruits you don't care for. There are many different versions of this soup, some call for just 2 or 3 kinds of fruit and others for more.

This recipe is my favorite, but if you don't care for it, I can find a different one for you. Lol, I probably have about 25 different versions between all of my cookbooks.

Cheers

67. Very true, but...
most of the European stuff I have is those "obsolete" currencies pre-Euro. I used to travel internationally a lot, and began saving my leftover bills as neat little art pieces, and also intending to re-use them on future trips. Eventually I kept collecting because the bills from other countries were so diverse and attractive and because they were interesting souvenirs of my travels. I can't do anything with French francs anymore, as far as cashing 'em in, but I do like the way they look.

For the record, my favorites so far are the new Swiss francs...extremely beautiful.

56. VH stuff and for Christmas; Classic Pooh Stuff.
Edited on Thu Jan-04-07 04:24 AM by lildreamer316
I'm not so obsessive about the VH stuff; 'cause that would consume my life. Just the music.
I dunno why I got into the Classic Pooh Christmas stuff...but there it is. Fortunately; I have most of it done; so it's just odds and ends now.

Oops! I have a large collection on the desktop of fantasy clip-art. I'll never be done with that.

68. OMG, me too!
Whenever someone goes anywhere, I tell them I want them to bring me the cheapest, crappiest plasticky lame-o souvenir they can find. I'm talking big plastic lobster magnets from Boston, light-up Statue of Liberty keychains from NYC, etc. I love that shit. :D

72. Like my keychain of Jesse Ventura's head from Minnesota
My current favorite is the Pope Benedict Coronation commemorative bottle opener that some friends brought me from Italy. I have it placed atop a replica of St. Peter's Basilica held in the palm of God's hand...

I love that stuff too. Some, though, is too tacky to display.

You're more likely to get people to bring stuff to you too, because it's usually super-cheap. :D

63. "Unofficial" live recordings
Sometimes known as "Recordings of Indeterminate Origin," but NOT "bootlegs." (Bootlegs are unauthorized copies of official releases for sale.) You know, audience recordings made by somebody who smuggled in a recorder, or leaked soundboard recordings, FM broadcasts, etc. A very eclectic mix, but leaning toward progressive rock. My list (which really needs to be updated) is here:

Books and total silence from employers, after I send them my resume. Unbelieveable excuses from potential bosses/former bosses as to why they didn't hire me/fired me.

Junk and crud I need to sell/give away/throw out.
