I sent one of my little boys to California today.
A pup I raised last year. Now I'm loitering around the Continental Cargo web site to see if he's arrived. He should be landing just about now. Kinda nerve-wracking.

1. The Puppy Has Landed!
Looks like he's been transferred to his new mom. I'll probably hear from her tomorrow.

Okay, I'm done here for the night. :)

3. Sighthound...
...a rare breed, a Sloughi. Similar to a greyhound, but leaner. He was the boss dog of my '06 litter. One of his brothers is the boss now. Oh, he's been itching for this opportunity, too! Of course, now his sister has taken the role of "ambitious beta," so I still have to listen to them squabble. It never ends.... :)

4. They're beautiful!
I found a pic...

Such sleek, graceful animals! I especially love the mottled coat.
Do you train them to hunt as well as breed them?

5. Yup, that's what they look like. :)
I don't have a pic of my gang handy at the moment, or I'd post it. Mine are the sand-colored variants like the dog in the background, though they have brindles in their ancestry, and it's not at all unlikely that we'll have a few brindles in a future litter. They also come in "black-mantle" (black-and-tan) which we should have in this year's litter.

They were gazelle hunters in the Sahara Desert for thousands of years. (There's a Sloughi depicted in King Tut's tomb.) I don't train them to hunt, but people do lure coursing with them, which I may try this year too. So far I've just done conformation, some obedience, a little bit of agility.

They're wonderful companions, very serene and quiet - at least once they get past the crazy puppy stage! :)
