Do the Admins Exist?

I mean, aside from Skinner, whose existence I'm willing to accept on de facto faith. But what about the rest of them? Are they actual people, or are they cute little AI's running around here on DU (and elsewhere?)?

So either they exist or Skinner has created an elaborate ruse and hired paid actors to play the parts of Earl G and elad and their respective SO's. That seems a little insane, so I'm going to go with, yeah, they exist.

And that EarlG and elad exist based on mere pixels displayed on a page. I submit that you have no proof to back up your claims. Further, a poster below claims to have "seen Skinner." What does that mean? Anyone can claim to have seen Skinner, but does that actually establish the existence of Skinner? UFO's have stronger claim to existence. Whose Skinner? Which Skinner? Our Skinner? And just what is "our" Skinner? Clearly, we are all in over our heads in these matters. I'm afraid we will never know if Skinner exists, even if someone claiming to be Skinner posts on this thread to the effect that he exists. Even if we posit that there is someone named Skinner who functions as an admin on this board, can he be sure he is *really* Skinner? Perhaps he is someone else and is not aware of it.

And it just gets sketchier if we attempt to delve into the existence/non-existence of EarlG and elad.

Although it wouldn't be the first time that my eyes have deceived me. I don't know, maybe it was just a Skinner-Bot.

Admins don't actually exist until there is a matter requiring their attention, at which point they spontaneously materialize long enough to deal with the matter at hand (pardon the pun). In fact, this is because they actually did not exist until the precise moment that the moderator requested their wisdom. Having tombstoned a high-post-count member, they instantly cease to exist until the next time some mod requires their judgement. Whether the same admins come into temporal existence each time is impossible to say. Some maintain that each occurance of an admin is a unique one, totally unconnected to the others.

Perhaps I confused the issue with incorrect terminology. If I could state it adequately, I'd be making lots of money in a lab somewhere.
