If you could make a new national holiday
what would it be?

I'm thinking maybe "National Day of Dreams Coming True". Too long? Maybe just "Dream Day"

2. The President's Birthday.
Currently July 6 (though it should be March 31).

In 2005, it will be November 17 (I hope).

5. Not a new one...But I would change one
I would make May 1 labor day like everywhere else in the world. It has historical significance. And it's my B-day so I would get the day off. An added bonus. :)

16. That's alright
It's better than Bushie's "Loyalty Day" by a long shot.

6. Nixon Resignation Day
It was in August 1974. We need a holiday in August, and don't have one. Or, Lions Eliminated From Playoffs Day. That could be in August, too.

8. Freedom From Religion Day
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 09:53 PM by stopbush
Agnostics, atheists and humanists marching together. The religious types would want the day off too, so there'd be a tacit recognition of the anti-religious nature of the beast. And it would reflect the beliefs of many of the founding fathers. Maybe we could start some new traditions - like reading what those dudes actually thought about religion, rather than having the RW spread their lies through their historical (hysterical?) re-writes.

Hell, Christmas is a national holiday, and there's no way you can say it's not a religious holiday. Why not a holiday that celebrates freedom from religion...any religion?

Tit for tat...unless the Constitution is actually worthless.

On edit: I'd put it somewhere in the winter doldrums, between President's Day and Memorial Day, ie: that long period where there are no weekday holidays. Maybe the day after Easter (yikes! Asking for trouble with that thought!) or April 16.

18. Thomas Jefferson's Birthday, April 13
Why not?

After all there is no Federal Holiday between President's Day in February and Memorial Day at the end of May!

Sure would break the monotony!
