1. Well, that's a cool picture!
There is a place not far from Seattle that has an eagle festival. During that time of year, you can often see a dozen or more eagles waiting to catch salmon on the Skagit River. Even in Seattle we see them quite often as they have some favorite nesting places in the city.

3. They are few and far between in Texas as far as I can tell.
I know of three places to see them. That is it. I am sure there are more but not many. The one in the pic is part of a threesome, two matures and a juvenile in Llano, Texas. I really need to plan a trip up north to see different wildlife.

4. Nice pictures!
I went looking for Gyrfalcons yesterday. There are supposed to be a few of them wintering 70 - 80 miles south of here.

I saw: 7 Northern Harriers. 14 Rough Legged Hawks. 5 Bald Eagles. 4 Red Tailed Hawks. 1 Golden Eagle.

I couldn't find the Gyrfalcons. I guess I'll have to try again next weekend.

9. The Flathead Indian Reservation is one of the best places...
...to see raptors in North America. Especially in the winter.

Cold, sunny days are best. It didn't get above 9F yesterday. They like to sit on the high utility poles away from the highway and watch for rodents.

21. It's an annual event here in Nova Scotia.
The eagles migrate down from Cape Breton and winter over in that area; for the past several years the local poultry processors have been feeding them the culls and offal from their operations to boost their survival rate, which has been a big help in maintaining the eagle population. (They seem to have a good supply of dead chickens, which makes one wonder what goes on in the poultry barns!)

Needless to say, when the guys dump a barrow load of chicken parts, the eagles arrive in droves. It's become a sort of annual festival in that rural area--people come to view the eagles and chow down on pancakes and sausage at the local Canadian Legion hall and generally have a pleasant outing. We've gone a couple of times and had an enjoyable day, although it was pretty gray and blustery when those pix were taken, as you observe. :hi:

13. I can see bald eagles all winter long just going out my front door.
I've seen as many as 30 or more fishing when there is ice on the river here. The city is thinking of building a place near where I live where people may pull off the highway and view the many eagles. It is neat to walk out the door and see an eagle flying in the sky. I once saw a bald eagle here while I was on our tallest bluff, 600 feet above the city. It was not too far away, but it too was 600 feet above the city.
