Man the stories I could tell...my favorite is her pulling a gun on me when we got into a fight.

Who needs ExLax when Smith and Wesson does the trick!

19. It's from an old movie called "Gaslight".
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 02:47 PM by JackBeck
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036855/

"Gregory soon becomes possessive and patronizing toward Paula, forbidding her to have visitors and insisting that she's forgetting things. The increasingly confused, fragile Paula gets terrified late at night, when she sees the gaslights dim and cannot figure out why. Meanwhile, a detective (solid Joseph Cotten) re-opens Paula's aunt's case file…"

Basically, just as a random example, moving a couch and then claiming that was where the couch was always placed. Distorting an already established reality and then claiming that's the way things always were. Does that make sense or am I clouding the issue?

A personal example in this situation would be observing my ex steal ketamine from his job, cook it to make "Special K", watching him cook it in the oven and then confronting him about it and have him tell me he had done no such thing.

It's way to psychologically break someone down.

34. thanks for the explanation
emotional psych ops.

I believe most of my female lovers have been this way. Sad to say that but it is true. Complete failure to take any responsibilty. My last one was the worst. Don't like reality? Just rearrange it to meet your specifications. I guess the way you get involved with a gaslight lover is to be drawn to people who are dishonest with themselves, and deny to yourself that they are and what is going on in front of you. You (I should say I, but I mean people in general) get programmed into accepting this kind of behavior from growing up in dysfunctional/addictive homes where there is a lot of denial about what is occuring, a.k.a. 'the elephant in the living room'. So denial becomes a normal mental state, or at least it did for me. It feels more normal than being with someone who is more rational or realistic. I have to say I think a lot of "love at first sight" that I have experienced is when I have met someone from an equally sick background and our frequencies meshed immediately. There has to be something to it; my mother's dad was an alcoholic who raised her alone after her mother died when she was ten. Every female partner (relationship, I mean) I have had was raised by an alcoholic father exclusively after the mother was no longer in the picture due to death or divorce that occurred sometime in adolescense. Without exception. Really freaking creepy.

35. Sure.
And thank you for sharing. For me, I stayed because it was my first "out" relationship and I felt the pressure of the world on my shoulders having to prove to everyone that being gay is fine. And I wanted to prove that I could have a stable and functional relationship as a gay man. But the day we parted ways was the best day of my life. He still turns up at totally random times, but I've grown a lot since we were together. He still is the same.

There's other stuff but it isn't something for the Lounge; only for my head.

21. crazy while we were together
Since we divorced, it's almost like she dropped off the face of the earth... we spoke a bit through the divorce process, but hardly at all since, and nothing in almost exactly 6 years. The last time we spoke she said something about how her new boyfriend didn't approve of her talking to other men - it was like a 180 from when we were together. If I had said something like that to her (which I would not have), I would have either been ignored or gotten a verbal tongue lashing that went something like, "how dare you tell me who I can or cannot talk to!"

But, at least she never threatened any physical violence - she just spent money like I was Donald Trump or something... and told me that I was lucky when we got divorced because most women in her situation would max out all the credit cards (Only because I had to take out a 2nd mortgage and later get a 2nd job on the side to avoid bankruptcy...)

22. I have been stalked...multiple times
the first guy seriously wanted to marry me and I was only about 19 or so at the time and he was getting a graduate degree...

Because of him I got a private room at my dormitory and kudos to the University of Pittsburgh because the operators would not let him call me (they would not give my phone number or room out to anyone)...so they sent me a letter telling me that Mr. X wanted to get a hold of me and that I should contact him myself...I immediately went to housing and told them that he was the reason I was in hiding...so they called the police and had the police tell him gently that he should get a life and leave me alone because otherwise a restraining order would be issued.

The next stalker was another guy I went to school with who graduated ahead of me ...he was a nice guy but not my type. I made the awful mistake of going on what I thought was a holiday outing...turned out it was a "date" in his mind and he brought his older brother and sister-in-law along...and they had this impression we were a couple and were already picking out our wedding china...uber creepy since we had never gone out except for this outing....then he got a job far away and started sending me gifts....that too ended after I got very mean...which I hate doing.

I had it happen a few more times...don't know what it is about me but some fellows grow very attached to me and I have to pry them off with a crowbar.

Once, he broke into my apartment, breaking a glass window with his bare hand....he wrote just what he thought of me all over the walls in blood from his hand and tried to light my clothes on fire, all in the same incident, thank goodness I was not home when this rant was going on.

He used to take a gun and threaten to kill himself often, telling me that I would be to blame if he did so, and I would be in trouble. He was a stupid fool, hope he has grown up.

But he was a drunk and so was I. We were horrible to each other - not that that excuses his violence, of course.

I also had a guy hold a gun to my head once, but that too was after a bottle of Jameson was consumed.

Somehow, since I got sober, I don't find myself in these dangerous situations anymore...

51. I'm sorry; but those kind of women REALLY piss me off as a woman.
And SO MANY of them think that's an acceptable way to get a man! OR; they actually DO get pregnant on purpose; often telling the man they are using birth control when they aren't; or poking holes in the condoms or some stupid crap like that; and do this knowing the guy will do the "right" thing and marry them! I think it's a horrible way to start a relationship. When are you ever going to trust her again?
THEN these women get all upset at the men for having affairs and going to strip clubs and generally resenting them (go figure!!) and drag the men to counseling and embarrass them in front of their friends or worse yet; TAKE THEM ON DOCTOR PHIL.
Gee.
Wonder why that man doesn't like you anymore; dear? Let me guess.

Sorry. I know most smart women aren't like that; but the ones that are drive me up a wall.
Oh; and they also pay my bills; so I guess I should shut up. But I have to hear these stories from the heartbroken and beaten men who come to me for some lighthearted relief. (Not the physical kind!).
I hate it for them. I've got a big bleeding heart. Duh.

Rant off; sorry.

and I started to feel that he had some 'control' issues. I broke it off, and he called me from a telephone booth near my home. (luckily he didn't know my exact address, just my phone number. Before the days of reverse lookup) I reiterated on the phone that was it, and I heard something breaking. I hung up.

Next day I went by the telephone booth and he had destroyed it.

I never heard from him again, thank goddess.

33. I had the stalker ex, but my wife had a murderous one.
My stalker story is pretty run of the mill...kept following me, kept calling, would "accidentally" run into me when I was on a date and go off on the women about them being with "her boyfriend". She ended up being the only woman I've ever hit in my life, and I feel no shame for that. She was truly a psycho.

My wife, on the other hand, had an ex that stalked her on and off for years. They dated intermittently in high school (until I met her), and a few times intermittently after we broke up for a while. She always told me he was a "nice guy", but he only seemed interested in her as a fall back. When my wife (then girlfriend) got pregnant with my oldest, she made it clear to him that the dating was over...and he went nuts. For two years he would randomly show up on her porch bearing gifts and apologies trying to get back into her good graces. On one occassion he showed up drunk and forced his way into her house, apparently only stopping when his morality ran into our then year old daughter. She called the police, got restraining orders, and did the whole thing, but nothing worked.

After a few years, she and I worked out our issues and ended up moving in together. That pushed him over the edge, and after showing up several times screaming about how he was going to kick my ass for taking his girl, he finally kicked the door in and tried to assault her. Unfortunatly for him, I was home, I had a metal bat, and I was bigger. When the police arrived, he was unconcious on the floor in a bloody heap. Two broken arms, a broken leg, the whole bit. He went to jail, and we never heard from him again.

Interestingly, he may have saved my wifes life. We bought a gun in case he came back, and that gun later saved her life when she was attacked and raped by someone else (I've posted that story here before, but it's one of the major reasons I'm a gun owner).

43. Sort of
When I was about 18 I was seeing someone with an alcohol problem. He would show up at my house (I was still living at home at the time) in the middle of the night, knocking on the door and yelling obscenities and that he saw me out with some other guy (not true). My dad had to throw him out a few times. He kicked my ass once (literally foot on the ass) because he was mad about something, so kicked me while my back was turned. He also hit me once, in the face. That was the end of that. He had some issues. I once watched as he repeatedly smashed his head against a stop sign until he had a concussion. I couldn't stop him.

I was attacked by the crazy ex-wife of the guy I was seeing once. She knocked down my apartment door and broke some dishes. I was practically naked she dragged me around my feet got cut up on the glass. She grabbed my dog's metal leash to whip me with it, which I grabbed and got stuck around my finger (still have a little nerve damage on the tip of one). All the while the guy was trying to drag her off of me. Called the police and had her arrested. She did it again. Called the police, this time they didn't arrest her. Can't remember why. She showed up to my place several times, threatening to kill me.

44. The Voodoo Chick
That's how I remember her, whatever her real name is (though at the time she kept changing it herself). One day she decided her flat was haunted. So she held an exorcism. That meant burning candles, pouring salt (or sugar) in the corners, making strange sounds, then painting the floors with a mixture of bay rum, brown sugar and her own urine.

That's the last time I ignored intuitive feelings I had about a woman. Now when they say run, I'm like a hockey player and get the puck out.

Neither one was a actually boy friend ... just a couple of bf's.

BF #1 - Met him at a ....... um ... men's club. Said wanna go to my place, I live just down the street. "Down the street" ended up being almost to Pacific Heights (for those of you that don't know the lay out of San Francisco .... that's a LONG way from the Castro). This pissed me off, because I was NOT in the mood for an over nighter. I was in my 'get off, get up, get dressed, get out' phase. I got over that since he threw it down pretty good. We exchanged phone numbers and I figured I'd knock off another piece some time. Well, homeboy called to set up another booty call which I was cool with. On the day of said booty call, he called me and I was on the phone yaking to one of my best friends in Chicago. I told him I'd call him back. WELL! Miss Thang got a bee up her ass and called BACK in about 5 minutes and said "Don't you think you should be worried about your long distance bill?". I told him that I'd be off the phone by the time he showed up. My friend and I of course were tee-heeing about this. He showed up (I had just got off the phone), we knocked one off and I sent him on his way.

BF #2 - I noticed this guy that lived in an apartment building next door to my office. He was very cute and we sort of flirted with each other. One night I was out in the 'hood and he came up and started talking to me after bars closed. I lived at Church and Market which is several blocks from Castro and Market. I was talking to his guy and started to walk home. We were just yak, yak, yak and finally he asked "where are we going?" .... I said "well I'M walking home, I don't know about you". Then in my suave way I said ... "you wanna fuck?" So again a piece was to be knocked off. This opened a can o' worms .... from that point on he figured he could just stop/stagger by my place after the bars closed. Of COURSE I would buzz him in a few times. But it got to be too much. He finally got a clue when I stopped answering the phone after 2am.

52. snippets...
one waved a gun at me in a drunken rage.

one locked the door when i was working and wouldn't open up when i came home at two in the morning -- i was a bartender.
and he was inside fucking his ex.
the part i had a problem with was not being able to go home to the place I WAS PAYING THE RENT ON.

and then there was the time i ran my car into a parked car at two in the morning trying to see if my ex was up to no good -- well, no good in my mind -- perfectly reasonable for him.
and no, i never told him about that.

55. Oh, yeah
Fortunately, she eventually went on with her life, found another man ... and blew his ear off with a shotgun.

Hate to sound cold but better him than me!
