Should Cascadian move to Portland after school?

Nothing scientific or binding in this poll. I am currently in school in the somewhat conservative burg of Spokane, Washington. Last year, I DID make an attempt to move to Long Beach, California after spending 15 years in Seattle but that fell apart within a month. Once my schooling is done here in Spokane, I don't think I could make another attempt at California. It's a long story. I think what I want to do after school is hope to establish myself in Portland, Oregon. I think it would be a better fit for me and I have always liked it there. In some ways I actually like it better than in Seattle.

So what do you think DUers. Should I give Portland a shot?

Portland is going to look like paradise after spending this much time in ol' Spokane. It has everything I need. A great light rail and bus system, a nice bookstore (Powell's), a great music and arts scene, politically VERY progressive, bars and clubs that stay open an hour later than Washington, and it's still cheap to rent when you compare it to Seattle. I also thought that was very cool for the city to show the World Cup soccer games at Pioneer Courthouse Square. I cannot think of any other city in America that did that. Portland is on the up and up!

I'm from California and even I don't think I want to go back -- too crowded now, too expensive. Used to live near Long Beach, myself.

I currently live in NC but want to get back west and am seriously considering looking at Portland, myself. Seems like a beautiful, progressive city!

Apart from the benefits of living there with the quality of life, I have lived in Washington state and I have lived in California. If I move to Oregon then I can say I have lived on all 3 of the West Coast states of the lower 48. Plus, I like that non-conformist/progressive vibe to Portland. It's a good fit I would say.
