1. Awwww Mini

I think love at any age has its downsides. When I can't speak to my sweetheart for 24 hours I get all lovesick. I'm 30. Apparently I never grew out of this.

I guess I've just been too hard on myself lately. But teen love sucks like an industrial hoover.

4. Doesn't love just tend to suck when it's not going right?
I mean... I have the, you know... hots majorly for a guy who just sends me mixed signals. He's a good guy and makes me laugh but sometimes I wish he would just get it over with. Does he feel the same way as I do or does he not? It bothers me more than anything...

13. rule 1 of relationships - guys are idiots
we dont pick up on signals

we dont read between the lines

if you want to tell him something, make it clear and concise. and repeat it several times.

31. Ha! You and Goblinmonger should speak for yourselves!
I know right away when someone likes me. I just pretend not to notice if I'm not attracted. Or sometimes I just play hard to get. Not all men are suckers like you two ;)

8. No matter how old you will be
it will always suck when you don't know how the other one feels about you. Sometimes it helps if you ask, sometimes it helps if you don't ask .... it is really not fair.

23. You have to be subtle
like using a sledge hammer. That usually gets their attention. ;)

In other words, at any age, guys are clueless.

14. Listen to Allegro
DO NOT SEND MIXED SIGNALS! We won't get them. Do not "hint" because what's a "hint" for you is absolutely nothing for us. Especially since every girl is so very different in what she considers a hint. Some women I've known thought that by putting their hand on their arm, that was a very clear and concise suggestion that she liked the guy, whereas many other girls just do this because they're overly friendly. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

Therefore, if you like him, be blunt about it. Do not beat around the bush. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Just say it.

Is it putting yourself out on a limb for rejection? Sure it is, but it will save you a lot of frustration in the end, believe me.

Our first date happened because she said "Youre a nice guy, I like you, we're going out Saturday. Pick me up at 3."

the rest is history!

17. You are just getting in shape for what's coming your way, MiniMandaRuth.
Love doesn't suck when it's real but between now and that time when you find the one who adores you so much that he can't hide it, there will be confusion and disappointment and a few laughs as well. We all go through it.

Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 10:15 AM by CarolinaPeridot
What was I thinking ?

I am 26 now and I think back to the guys that I used to like a year ago and I think to myself ....

WHAT WAS I THINKING ?

All in all its a part of life. Some people are only in your life for seasons and others become a big sturdy breach in your tree of life , one you can always rely on. You live you learn you laugh you cry - the most important thing is to be alive :) It will be alright. :wow:   :puffpiece: :loveya: :grouphug:  :pals: :headbang: :yourock: :banghead:

20. It's not confined to teenage love...
not to discourage you or anything because it can be the most wonderful thing in the world, too...but love, in general -- in fact, anything that makes you take down your defenses and open yourself up to another person, particularly of the male variety -- has the potential to suck.

It also has the potential to make you feel better than you can even imagine. It's a double-edged sword and, with it, comes risks. The only question is, is it worth it?

It is.

21. Sorry MiniManda
It stinks that you had a bad experience

I'm not sure it's teenage love, frankly. I don't have any evidence that grown-up love is much better.

Remember to keep yourself fulfilled by staying busy with fun and challenging activities. Then you'll never need "love" to make you happy.

26. Good time as any for some J Geils
ARTIST: J. Geils Band
TITLE: Love Stinks
Lyrics and Chords

Intro: / C CG F FG / /

You love her, but she loves him
And he loves somebody else, you just can't win
And so it goes, 'til the day you die
This thing they call love, it's gonna make you cry
I've had the blues, the reds and the pinks
One thing's for sure

/ C F C Am / / / / G - - - / F - - FG /

{Refrain}
Love stinks - love stinks, yeah yeah (4X)

/ C CG F FG /

Two by two, and side by side
Love's gonna find you, yes it is, you just can't hide
You'll hear it call, your heart will fall
Then love will fly, it's gone, that's all
I don't care what any Casanova thinks
All I can say is

{Refrain}

I've been through diamonds, I've been through minks
I've been through it all

/ G - - - / F - - FG /

{Refrain twice}

TWO engagements and a bunch of HMBs before I met the right one here.

But yes, teenage love sucks badly. You know, because high school and Jr High didn't suck badly ENOUGH for me . . . that whole confetti-and-ribbons had to be tossed on the pyre.
