A question about CNN.
So, I'm watching the debate right now.

And CNN is doing something that annoys me to no end (and I'm probably the only one who is irratated by this)

When someone says something on CNN, there's a crawl at the bottom of the screen...showing the VERY same thing that person said.

I thought perhaps this might be an augmentation of closed captioning...but then I realized that CNN is the only news channel that does this....CNBC and MSNBC doesn't do this practice.

Is the fact that CNN displays the same thing a person says the dumbing down of their news content? Does CNN think their audience is so stupid we didn't understand what the person on the air just said?

This practice of CNN's sounds trivial, but it's very strange, IMO.

1. It's not just what's being said
At one point, while one of the candidates was talking, the text on the screen said, paraphrasing here: "RNC: SNIPING AMONG DEM CANDIDATES IS 'VILE'"

CNN is vile for pulling crap like that.

3. I dunno, I'm watching it on c-span, but I have noticed the worm thing, too
I didn't think that CNN would do the debates for as long as it lasts, just for 30 seconds

4. Now CNN is 'analysing' the debates
focusing on the attacks on Dean. They are saying that 'land mines' may have been laid against Dean. Of course, they are using Kandy what's her face to tell the sheeple all about Dems....like she knows. I turned it off in disgust, because they didn't highlight the good things that were said by the candidates.

5. I think CNN does it with everything
It must be a new policy or something. I noticed it first on "Crossfire" a month or two ago. Apparently CNN has concluded that its audience is too stupid to follow a conversation and draw conclusions from what has been said in that conversation.
