Well, I finally discovered that at least one poster has blocked me.

I'm surprised, it's someone I felt I had a decent repetoir with. Sort of.

I've actually only used the so-called "thermo-nuclear ignore" option "on" three posters. Who were basically stalking me there for a while, I felt. Now, I'm glad I haven't overdone it because--geez. That's one way to bring a person down.

ETA: Hmmmm. I just checked. Apparently, I upped the number of people on my big, "block replies" list to twelve at some point last week. Out of an Ignore list that only has 206 people on it--one of whom will shortly be coming off since I have absolutely NO idea why I put that individual on there in the first place.

I guess I'm just kinda bothered because I can only think of one exchange I had with this person that was in any way unpleasant and I can't believe s/he felt the need to block replies over that. It's one thing to see you've been blocked by someone you've had bad, mean, or rude encounters with, but it is quite another to see that you've been Big Ignored by a "friendly" voice.

I felt harassed and/or threatened by. Not just people who were offending me or making what I felt were personal attacks. And I've just reviewed my own list again, and each and every single one of the Big Ignore folks were posters I thought were not just posting offensive things in my threads or in reply to my posts, but things that made them look sociopathic to me (and, of course, the person who decided to send his/her scary dislike of my posts to my Inbox for the first and only time ever on this site). I was not thinking, "Wow, these people should know I am not just angered but freaked out by their posts," and I definitely wasn't thinking "others should be involved in my 'dispute' with these online stalkers posters."

Still...it'll be interesting...really interesting to see who else decided I was really that bad.

and someone who is that offensive should be banned......I sure as f*** would not hide from them....I find that IGNORE works fine, I don't drag other DUers into my conflicts

And, if so, what steps did you take before Ignoring them to "make them sorry"? You should probably PM me the response.

I have no, ZERO, regular sleeping hours so I post at very odd times......anyone who bugs me, I put 'em on ignore and I'm done with them

it's in my nature to do so (I inherently know how to push peoples' buttons) if motivated although my laziness usually prevents it - ultimately I'd just put them on Ignore - Ignore was good enough for me

And, some very sad posters are already using it like that.

Personally, it's threads that I hide, not people.

And even the threads I hide are usually because their something annoying but not really about politcs and it had devolved to a flame fest

Maybe my impressions are just skewered because I've spent a lot of time communicating with DU members who have upwards of 400 people on their Ignore lists.

it's who did the blocking. I thought of this poster as a pal--and one of the last folks ever I thought would never want to hear from me again in any form on the site. Okay.

I'm quite certain I'm on a lot of Big Ignore lists, actually, and now I'm...er...hurtfully curious to see who else I'll be surprised to see "just doesn't like me like that."

I understand what you are going through. My blocks have been from posters who have disagreed with me. the first time I met them on DU. And I can guarantee that I was never nasty. I'm all for getting rid of this new option.

Blocking someone is NOT like ignoring someone. Blocking should only be used on stalkers.

only the mods and former mods know. It may help to explain why my threads sink like stones. I did not consider that I would not be able to see their threads when I put people on ignore. I never wanted that either, just did not want to have to read their snarky remarks to me. Not being able to see threads means that RW spin would go unchallenged by me, or they could also make some really good OPs and make me change my mind about them.

The last 4 from the same poster in the same thread and I never put her on ignore. Nor did she put me on ignore. I almost did quote her words back to her when I saw her in a thread tonight though complaining about how some DUers were apparently unable to discuss things without resorting to personal insults.

I probably should not keep track of such things, but I thought it would help if somebody was harshing on me to be aware of our past history. Seemingly none of them bothered to remember me. Just shot their vitriol and moved on.

...that it was my intention to get the whole thread deleted. So, I told him to lick my a** and go f**k himself. Sure enough, the mod deleted the whole thread - which was my intent - and I've never heard from that individual again. Crude tactics for sure, but they worked.

Kind of a smarta$$ response, but it is one thing to call me a Nazi and another to suggest that anyone who uses/speaks Deutsch is a Nazi. Basically I said "here's some more German for ya buddy". But I still think of that person as an old friend. We've both been here a while.

I expected to see a bunch of "can't reply" messages on OPs in threads with people I hadn't ignored, but whom I disliked a little, and to think, okay, well, ouch, but I understand. I'm still a little miffed that a person I thought of as a buddy apparently...really didn't think that.
