When was the last time you went to the dentist?
And for what?

It dawned on me the other day that I haven't been to a dentist in 9 years. I realize this is ridiculous and that I need to go, but I've always had very good teeth (no braces, no wisdom teeth) so they've never been a problem to me. I have no fear of the dentist (not yet, anyway) but it just isn't a priority. Now, I go to the dr. annually, but the dentist? Eh, haven't made the effort.

I won the genetic lottery with teeth, but lost out big time when it comes to vision. I guess one balances the other out, in a weird way.

How about you?

1. Great teeth, bad eyes here too.
But I'm still paranoid enough to go to the dentist twice a year. Last time was in late November. Wish I hadn't. After going to this woman for years and years she finally recommended additional dental work. Wants to replace some old fillings to the post-insurance tune of $800. Ugh!

2. About two weeks ago. Standard visit: cleaning only
I usually go about 2 x/ yr.

I was overdue.

I've been blessed with good teeth, like you. No problems. No braces. I've been lucky.

:hi:

6. Ditto.
I must say that I really like the smooth feeling of the enamel on recently cleaned teeth. That's the main reason why I'm a 2x'er too. I was overdue this time because I had to switch dentists. My new dentist is great.

3. I'd rather not say.
But I was also blessed with good teeth. No cavities in years and never needed braces. I'm planning on going this year. I don't want to end up like so many in my family... with dentures. Ugh! :scared:

5. I went last month
Get your teeth examined, and if you don't have any problems, go another nine years. The doctor spends 30 seconds looking at your teeth and charges you a hundred bucks.

I've been going twice per year for several years, and now I'm backing off to once per year. My teeth are very healthy, but family history is against me (though I seem to be immune).

8. First time in three years
Back in December. They're really playing the insurance. They wanted me back in 4 months and said the insurance wouldn't cover it, so they'd code it different. I might go back next winter, but they can shove their predatory capitalism.

A previous dentist told me it was healthy to brush hard enough for the gums to bleed a little. Without time ever to heal, they became a wee infected. I thought my face was swelling with age. Now my ugly mug is normal again. I brush without as much force and swish my mouth with warm salt water. Fucking quacks.

10. Great eyes, bad teeth
OK, now that I am old my eyes are not good anymore, but in my youth I had better than 20/20 vision. It was great. Now I am blind as a bat.

Always had bad teeth. I swear, it runs in the family, on my maternal grandfather's side.

On the bright side, I think my dentist has a crush on me. ;)

13. Last month.
I go every 6 months like clockwork. I had to have braces and a lot of nasty stuff done when I was a kid ... and then wisdom teeth when I was 19. I fear losing my teeth after all that work. And I like how they feel after they've been cleaned.

14. Few months back. Had an abscess.
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 02:44 PM by Mojambo
It got REALLY bad before I managed to get into the dentist. I was throwing up for like 20 hours.

The pain was unimaginable. When I got to the dentist I just had them pull it because that was all I could afford.

I'm still paying it off actually.
