The Clash cover in Over the Hedge

In case you hadn't heard, the movie Over the Hedge concludes with a Ben Folds version of the old Clash song "Lost in the Supermarket."

I have a couple questions:

1) What the fuck gives Hollywood the right to take a glorious anthem by the only band that mattered and use it in a stupid kid's movie?

2) Isn't this a great way to expose the genius of the Clash to a new audience?

I'm torn.

What does the Lounge think about it?

1. A couple of answers

1) Record labels, that's what. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER trust a record label.

2) Yes, it is, and that's the only bright side you can get from it.

Now, my question is: What the hell kind of lyric is "long distance callers make long distance calls?"

But I was thinking more philosophical: just because something is legal doesn't mean that it's the right thing to do. Was it the right thing to do in this case?

I'd answer your question about whether or not that line about long distance callers is a great lyric but I'm out of clove cigarettes and those are required for deep thinking.
