Tired of the Outrage Fatigue, Taking care of me and mine
I've poured myself inside out to various causes and issues. I've given time, money and energy to this, that and the other thing. I'm not just flat, I'm concave at this point. Right now, I just can't find the energy to work up any more outrage at the latest Bush fiasco/power grab/smirking idiocy. All the candidate bashing and so on is just so many fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I just can't handle it now. The latest news about corporate takeovers/abuse of consumers/financial shennanigans has finally left me numb.

So I'm taking a break to take care myself and those around me that I love by doing the following:

1. Giving up freelancing and finding a steady job with a major corporation that pays 40% more a month than my best month as a freelancer. I find very little nobility in poverty, especially when my spouse needs major medical care. An added benefit is the health care plan that has no employee contributions, no copays, and no deductible, with all pre existing conditions covered immediately.

2. Moving us from the slums, gangbangers, drug dealers and drive by shootings to a much calmer, safer, bigger and nicer place that costs about the same. It feels weird not being awakened by automatic weapons fire between the cops and the gangbangers.

3. Getting furniture that isn't torn, ripped, broken or stained. Say what you will about IKEA, but they have great stuff at reasonable prices.

4. Getting a new vehicle that doesn't need to have a new head, rear suspension, and tires. The spouse's eyes nearly dropped out of their head when I parked it in place of the old junker.

5. Taking time to spend with the spouse to have fun and love on the kitties, who have been so loving and patient (both the spouse and kitties).

6. Taking a vacation for the first time in 7 years. We're going to DisneyWorld! :)

Yes, I'm being selfish. I'm not worrying about the War, Impeachment, Profiteering and so on. So shoot me. The Viet Cong, NVA, and Cubans have already had their shot, why not take yours? Does this mean I don't care about what's going on in the world? Not a chance!I'm taking care of what and who's important to me, and only when I know that they are well taken care of, will I be able to take up other causes, because THEY are the reason I take them up.

I'm off. I'll be back by the Iowa Caucuses. Take care of those you love as well.
