here it is, the one truly BEAUTIFUL audition on American Idol
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 11:33 AM by charlie and algernon
here's a video of Sherman Pore's audition on american idol on wednesday. he's the 62 yr old who's wife died two days before and all he wanted to do was sing for her. it's very touching. the one shining light in an otherwise cold show.

2. My wife loves that show. His audition was the only point where I did not want to smash the TV.
What that man did for his partner was amazing.
Damn.

20. I refuse to watch that show for several reasons:
1)They don't take anyone over 28. I'm over 28.

2)they only want that screamin' R&B stuff, and don't allow any other styles. I sing opera & other things in English that I like. I've studied music for 45 years and took two years of voice lessons.

3)I have a far better voice than most of those people, and they wouldn't like it anyway.

4)I would not allow myself to be humiliated.

5)It's a stupid show. They have an attitude of "We don't want Americans exposed to ANY OTHER KIND of music other than the mediocre pop stuff we promote, that all sounds alike."

You would be able to guess I'm a huge fan of Frank Zappa's attitude, wouldn't you?

22. Sundance Head successfully auditioned with Stormy Monday.
He was fan-freaking-tastic, and there was nothing "mediocre pop" about his performance.

Bo Bice and Chris Daughtry sang rock; Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler sang country.

At any rate, though, American Idol is based on a British talent show called Pop Idol. It's about making pop stars, not serious musicians.

23. Saw him on Larry King last night with A.I. finalists from prior years
He sang another song for Larry King, it was equally poignant. He had Kelly Pickler sitting next to him when he was being interviewed, she got pretty misty as well. I'll second an earlier suggestion that Mr. Pore would be a welcome addition to the the A.I. season ender festivities.
