But haven't killed anyone as far as I'm aware.

Unless you count that one roommate, but I dare you to try to prove it.

5. I killed a few with apathy.
A family member died of lung cancer. A few friends died of drug overdoeses. Thinking back, I should of said something; in fact, maybe been a pain in the ass.

20. The OP didn't ask for whys,
but I have to ask, why did you kill someone who didn't "stand up for himself"? I know you're not saying you murdered someone, but that's sort of how it sounds. Your response is enigmatic and a little disturbing. With righteous rage, did you kill a heinous bastard while he was hiding in a closet?

Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 03:54 PM by sammythecat
to "stand up for himself" he would be far less likely to get killed. Your response cleared up nothing.

You responded to the OP, so you must want people to know you killed someone, but you state it in such a mysterious and vague way. If it's something you don't want to talk about, why respond? Are you a murderer? Were you defending yourself or someone else? Your post invites these questions.

Should we just leave it that you're a reluctant hero with a dark and mysterious past? Kinda like in the movies.

My tone has changed from honest curiosity to annoyance. I don't appreciate the tough guy "It's like this, hombre," crap. Maybe that's the image you're trying to create.

I'm not responsible for your annoyance, friend. That's on you. I answered the OP, and I've given you all the answers you've got coming to you. More, actually. You might start asking YOURSELF some "probing" questions, starting with "How much of this story is it really my place to press for?"

37. We're not drifters coming across each other on the high plains here.
This is just the DU lounge. Half of us are probably in our underpants. Somebody posts, somebody responds, comment, response, etc. That's what happens here. You know that.

If you don't want any responses about something, don't talk about it. Don't bring it up. It makes it seem like you just want people to know you're capable of killing a man.

Mr.McD responded to the OP with "Yes. In Viet Nam". No details, and none needed. You said you killed a man too cowardly to stand up for himself, but that, if he had guts, would probably have killed you. Sounds like the beginning of a novel, yet you resent any curiosity about what the hell you're talking about!

Say something that makes some sense to a slappo like me.

What's with the tough guy hostility? Jesus! Hard to take it seriously when I think you're just wearing underpants. Are you? Am I?

I kinda liked that "slappo" insult. Haven't heard that yet. One of your heroes say that in a movie?

29. I wouldn't need a weapon to kill this man. All I'd have to do
is steal his twinkies and he'd die of a broken heart. The loss of me he survives, nay, thrives upon, but the loss of a meal might put him over the edge. :eyes: I'm so mean. I loved my big boy.

39. My Answer....
"Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.

Some love too little, some too long,
Some sell, and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
And some without a sigh:
For each man kills the thing he loves,
Yet each man does not die.

He does not die a death of shame
On a day of dark disgrace,
Nor have a noose about his neck,
Nor a cloth upon his face,
Nor drop feet foremost through the floor
Into an empty place

He does not sit with silent men
Who watch him night and day;
Who watch him when he tries to weep,
And when he tries to pray;
Who watch him lest himself should rob
The prison of its prey.

He does not wake at dawn to see
Dread figures throng his room,
The shivering Chaplain robed in white,
The Sheriff stern with gloom,
And the Governor all in shiny black,
With the yellow face of Doom.

He does not rise in piteous haste
To put on convict-clothes,
While some coarse-mouthed Doctor gloats, and notes
Each new and nerve-twitched pose,
Fingering a watch whose little ticks
Are like horrible hammer- blows.

He does not know that sickening thirst
That sands one's throat, before
The hangman with his gardener's gloves
Slips through the padded door,
And binds one with three leathern thongs,
That the throat may thirst no more.

He does not bend his head to hear
The Burial Office read,
Nor, while the terror of his soul
Tells him he is not dead,
Cross his own coffin, as he moves
Into the hideous shed.

He does not stare upon the air
Through a little roof of glass;
He does not pray with lips of clay
For his agony to pass;
Nor feel upon his shuddering cheek
The kiss of Caiaphas."

I was in and out of the hospital for five or six years and had to have surgery four times so I wouldn't die of bacterial pneumonia. I'd call that attempted murder but ya couldn't file charges.
