The new job is going good. Might get a big break soon.

I got a new trucking job about a month ago. My position there is to fill in for other drivers when they need some time off. I love the job but I would feel more secure there if I had my own route to run rather than being the swing guy. It turns out that someone on 1st shift is quitting and a guy on 3rd shift wants that slot thus opening up a position on 3rd shift for a new driver.

I've run the guy's route before when he needed some time off and I like it. It is also a very good paying route. The route has to be offered to all of the other drivers on 3rd shift before I can take it. But I've asked around and nobody wants the route because the run is around Cleveland and they get a lot of snow up that way. Most of the other routes are pretty tame in the winter.

Anyway, wish me luck. It will be the best job I've ever had if I get on that Cleveland route. I wish I would have gotten a job like this when I first got into trucking ten years ago.
