Woman Buys Sled - Ties It To Truck Bumper - Hits Tree At 25mph - Holpitalized
<snip>

A 20-year-old Brookings woman is hospitalized after a sledding accident Tuesday night.

Lisa Gilland is in stable condition this noon after being airlifted to Sioux Falls with head and body injuries. Nineteen-year-old Michelle Clobes was driving a pickup on a gravel road while pulling a plastic sled with Gilland riding in it.

Clobes estimated she was going about 25-miles-per-hour when the sled went off the road and hit a tree. Gilland was thrown from the sled and hit her head on the tree.

Charges are pending against Clobes.

1. Somehow it seems like Gilland should be charged too
this looks like a conspiracy of braindeadliness

Before getting flamed, let me at least say, I feel very bad for both these girls and their families. I just admit that their enterprise here was for the airheaded.

2. TEH ST00p1d--it burns!
But hats off to the ladies for taking a hitherto male way of humiliating oneself, and making it their own.

6. Probably in the trunk with the garbage bags, duct tape, child seat, and Bendryl.
Movie of the week commentary @ Tim Goodman: The Bastard Machine.

"Until the crazy astronaut woman showed up. Any time you can take the above mentioned elements and add diapers, forget it, you've got a blockbuster. This story is almost too incredible to pass up. If it's not on the air in under six days, portrayed by hand-puppets on Fox, I'll be one stunned cynic."

I emphasize!

5. Lemme guess....
Clobes was towing Gilland to the Rocket Science Institute of Greater Sioux Falls, since her shift as a brain surgeon at the South Dakota Free Neurology Clinic was over. Right?

Am I close to the correct explanation there?

7. ha! i used to do this all the time when i was a teenager
and sometimes there wasn't snow on the ground - it's a damn miracle nothing like this ever happened...my friends were crazy, and pretty stupid

but it sounds ridiculous, from the information given, that they're going to charge the driver (although who knows what the charges are)

9. I know a guy who was run over on the main road....
being pulled behind a truck, he doesn't walk as well as before. It shattered his pelvis, broke one arm and femor. Yeah if you're being pulled by someone, watch out for the curves, the laws of physics take over in the middle of the arc.

10. When I was in HS, some buddies tied an old MG hood to the back of a truck bumper, and ...
... we rode around a department store parking lot for a few hours in the snow. It kicked ass. I'm guessing the rope between the truck and hood was about thirty feet long. We just had to keep an eye out for light poles. Luckily, we didn't hit any.

:-)
