How do you sleep?
I just woke up from a most delightful nap, and I realized that I had been asleep on my right side.......

Nice blanket, knees bent, right arm crossed over my chest onto my left shoulder, and left arm tucked underneath...

Soft soft pillow under my head...

So.....tell me.......

How do you sleep?

:hi:

11. Usually well
but sometimes restlessly. I'm a very light sleeper and will waken at the slightest noise.

But how I sleep is usually on my side...with a soft sweet cat (12 years old now) tucked into my arms. Even if I turn during the night, she will change sides so as to tuck into a cuddle. Funny cat. She has pissed off a number of girlfriends. Of course, she is still here...lol...and they are not. Another cat at my knees and a dog on the floor. A book and a bottle of water on the bedside table.:hi:

And it's even better when it's just a nap. So comfortable, diffuse light in the room but still day. Maybe some rain at the window... Even better if there's someone cooking dinner in the house, so you can wake up slowly to good smells.

doesn't sleep so well. I tell her to wake me up if I get too loud, but she usually gets up to sleep on the couch if I'm bothering her too much. I've tried those nose thingys that are supposed to help, so hopefully that will put an end to it.

35. Twisted at or just below the shoulders
and I wake up with stiff necks from it. My head just falls into the gap between the pillow on the left and the one on the right. That's the problem with having a queen sized bed to yourself...you tend to migrate to the center of it.

62. Usually on my back or on my side. .
Two pillows under me.. one big pillow to the side. . . . . My arm usually goes different places while I'm asleep . . . Legs usually straight if on my back . . bent if on my side. .

Oh . . and I don't know if I do it anymore.. but years ago . . use to sleep with my eyes opened.. freaked out quite a few babysitters. . . one who woke me up cause she thought something was wrong.

81. I Don't "THINK" I still do it . .
But yah I roll around in bed. . . which is why I hate sharing a bed... cause I'm going to take them out in my sleep

Last time I ever did a church event (Back when I was in H.S).. we had to share beds. . (Four people in a room two beds) and the poor guy opted for the floor after I kept rolling around until he fell off the edge.

If I sleep...then the bad thoughts that I try to keep away when I'm awake come to haunt me in my dreams.

on my right side - knees bent, and both hands under my (contour) pillow.

The vast majority of the time, I wake up on my back.

69. Well, for me, it's kind of a ritual ...
Before I go to bed, I take a shower to get my body relaxed. Then I slide into bed with some heavy blankets and a couple of pillows under my legs (for medical reasons).

Oddly, I can't fall asleep unless I read something. It's kind of annoying. That said, I am generally out within five minutes of opening a book good enough to really lose myself in.

Rituals are very good things to have when you're trying to get to sleep...

Yours sounds really wonderful......

Too bad about the books, though....

Can you read them in the daytime? Otherwise, how do you finish them?

84. I
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 11:34 PM by Drum
am always on my side, sometimes curled or swastika-leg configuration. Ordinarily nude, as well. Big med-firm pillow(s) and lotsa blankets---the weight of them helps me sleep, and I keep a cool-ish room as I sleep badly in overheated and dry places (the case in many hotels.) I travel a lot with work, and luckily do pretty well on most all mattresses, though of course the best is always on the bed at home---or should be---right?

EditToAdd: Lifelong I've been a terrifically sound sleeper; I can conk out quickly and sleep deeply through the night until my multiple alarms eventually rouse me. The only exceptions are very-annoying bouts of jet-lag from the aforementioned frequent travel.
One downside of this idyllic slumber: very infrequent dreaming. Memorable and vivid dreaming is sadly the exception :(

Good for you, knowing exactly what works and how to get it!

Hopefully our home mattress is the best for us........

I find as I get older that jet lag is more of a problem.......

But I refuse to let it stop me from travelling!

I'm certain you do dream.....but perhaps your deep sleep prevents you from remembering them.....

99. i usually start on my stomach
slightly turned on my right side, right arm under my feather pillow and left arm curled around my teddy bear (i've slept with that bear every night for the last 24 years) and blankets pulled up to my ear. i usually reverse the position to the left side sometime during the night.

if i sleep really well, i wake up spread eagled on my back with my fat cat between my feet and my little girl on my chest.

100. At first I thought this was going to be
a Lennon-esque "How Do You Sleep?" thread, lol...but this is much nicer, I think. ;)

Anyway. For naps, I usually curl up on my left side, but I usually sleep on my back at night. Not entirely sure why - I really ought to be sleeping on my side, since I have a bad back, but it isn't usually too painful. Of course, my favorite way to sleep is in my own bed at home, with cozy flannel sheets (in winter) and a cat (or two) curled up at the bottom of the bed. :) (I also don't mind when my dog jumps up on the bed to keep me company, but she's really not supposed to b/c of the possibility of fleas...and the fact that she smells like a dog. :P )

103. Very well now that my
apnea is being treated. I can actually sleep on my back without my wife telling me to roll over every 1.5 minutes. I look goofy as shit with the face mask on, but I actually get a good nights sleep (I was having over 5 instances an hour where I didn't breathe for nearly a minute and 20-25 more times an hour where I stopped breathing long enough to wake me up).
