I just read one DU'er that lost her son through a drunk driver (*hug CC*) and I seem to recall a DU'er that lost her husband that way. Does anyone remember who she is (or was)?

1. Her son was in Iraq.
They sent him home.

She had a letter in The Nation. She protested the war every day at her local post office. Her name was simple to remember. It is late.

I liked her. She was brave.

4. She was the one I was thinking of.
Strangely enough, she popped into my head the other day, too. Don't know why, haven't heard from her for years, barely even knew her (didn't remember her user name), but just remembered that frantic post she wrote right after it happened, and wondered how she was doing.

6. Yeah, I remember her ...
Her story played out here on DU forums like a bad dream.

Liberal family living in a very red area. They didn't have much of a support network. Son gets called and has to go to Iraq. Much tears. Husband literally worries himself sick about the son's wellbeing in Iraq as well as the fascist takeover of America. Husband gets seriously depressed and goes off the deep end. Husband dies. (IIRC)

Wow, she really laid herself out there on this forum. Hope she's OK.
