4. yeah, in the final round to see who was number one, my friend and I beat the Pastor
One has to significantly cut back on the usual card-table trash talking/ vulgarity in such scenarios

10. My parents used to play euchre with the next door neighbors to the wee hours
when I was a kid. Closest we ever came to neglect. When they played in the summer, they'd tell us to go to bed and leave our windows open so they could hear if we called them for anything.

I never learned to play. Sounds like I went to the wrong seminary (we were too busy drinking Red, White and Blue Beer).

What kinda church, if I might ask?

11. It's an easy game to learn. A lot like hearts or bridge
the church was Lutheran (LCMS)

12. Oh, yeah. I definitely didn't go to the same seminary as the pastor.
They wouldn't have let me in, what with my two X chromosomes and all.

I should try to learn euchre.

14. I usually play at the bar. It's amazing how long you can play when there's no booze involved
Ususally at the bar, after a few games the game becomes a pain in the ass.

13. You play cards with actual cards against real, flesh-and-blood people?
You don't have to use computer software to get your whist, euchre, hearts, and spades fix?

I'm jealous.

17. I love playing cards. Mr. LIW likes cards too, but we don't have any friends who play.
It was good to get home at Christmas and play hearts with the sibs!

My parents played cards regularly with the neighbors when I was growing up.

18. Do you know how to play 2 person spades?
it's like regular spades but you start by going through the deck with the following procedure

pick up card
if good keep and move next card onto discard pile
if bad discard and you must take the next card from the deck
