Anyone else have a song they really like but don't know the words to?
I downloaded a few Robert Plant songs from iTunes, and I realized this morning that I can't understand 3/4 of Burning Down One Side...and I've loved that song ever since it came out.

Weird.

1. May I recommend The Google for your lyrical needs?
Burning Down One Side:

I wouldn't understand half the lyrics I listen to without Internets searches!

3. Thanks for the link
I found the lyrics by googling the song title after I downloaded the song - I still haven't learned all of it, and there's no way to make out what he's singing just by listening to the song. :)

LyricsFreak and LyricsAtoZ are decent sites for lyrics also.

2. I only know a few words to every song I like.
I make up my own words.

4. Like my college roommate's favorite Aerosmith song, "Sweet Emulsion"?
She wondered out loud once why Steven Tyler was singing about photography, and we had to set her straight. Hilarity ensued.

6. *snort*

All Dylan songs have my words, and they change to something different every time I sing along. He could never be in my band.

10. ...

Your roommate should be familiar with the lyrics in Alanis Morrisette's big hit, "You Oughta Know":

"It's not fair/to deny me/of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me..." (as interpreted years ago by my step-son).

Also, the famous Beatles song, "She's Got A Tick In Her Eye' (as interpreted years ago by one of my step-daughters).

5. Only if it's a new song to me.
Either I listen to it enough to know most all of the words, or I look them up. It's sick how many songs I know all the words to. :P

11. You're a facinating freak of nature, you know that?
And even Bob doesn't know the words to that song. I know, I've seen him try to sing it. He's needs a cheat sheet on his guitar.

12. I wish I could download all the song lyrics in my head to an auxiliary storage bin
and make space for crap I need to know on a day-to-day basis. Even one of the pups at work was impressed that I knew the words to a hip-hop song he was playing. When he asked me if I knew the words to everything, I borrowed a lesbian friend's reply: I was raised by gay Russian aristocrats, and I know ALL the show tunes!

Hilarity ensued.

16. Absolutely!
I have her permission - plus she's a playwright, so it's all good. The more theatrical, the better.

The young coworker in question is prone to wearing alarming amounts of eyeliner (he's straight but parties hard), so the whole episode was smashingly brilliant. :D

22. Me too!
Most of my brain's memory capacity is filled with stupid crap like song lyrics, CB numbers from the 70's, Flintstones, Loony Tunes and Blackadder dialogue...:silly:

I like your excuse!
