Elite XC results! (SPOILER ALERT)
A really excellent night of fights, even though the main event ended in a disappointing fashion.

Match 1: "Krazy Horse" Charles Bennett defeated KJ Noons by knockout. Krazy Horse is quite a character! He refused to touch gloves with Noons, and apparently Noons had really done some trash talking before the fight. They hit eachother with some pretty good leg kicks in the beginning. Bennett seemed to blast Noons with the knockout blow from out of nowhere. After the match, he did a backflip off the top of the cage! One of the announcers described his as a "little Rampage Jackson". He will definitely be interesting to watch, and is highly entertaining in and out of the ring.

Match 2: Gina Carano defeated Julie Kedsie by unanimous decision. No question about who won this fight, even though both women showed tremendous heart and determination. Kedsie tried to work her grappling game, but was unable to control Carana. Carana dominated the standup war. At the end of the fight, both combatants hugged eachother and raised eachother's hands, as they knew they had just been part of a tremendous breakthrough for women in MMA! They both seemed euphorically happy and proud--as they both should be! Interesting note: Play-by-play announcer Mauro Renallo mentioned that Kedsie is a peace activist who was arrested with about 300 nuns during a peace protest in Georgia!

Match 3: Joey Villasenor defeated David "The Crow" Loiseau by unanimous decision. Like the previous match, absolutely no doubt about who won this one. Villasenor seemed to take The Crow down at will, and completely dominated the first 2 rounds. Loiseau seemed to come back to life in the 3rd after getting yelled at by his corner a little, and didn't get taken down quite as much. However, he did end up getting knocked down by Villasenor in what would have probably been a knockout if Villasenor hadn't caught The Crow's shoulder during the punch. Much like his fight with Mike Swick, Loiseau didn't seem to be his old self until the 3rd round.

Match 4: Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva demolished Wes "Cabbage" Coreira in the first round. Cabbage did his best, but was unable to stop the 6'4" 298lb. Silva, who won by TKO after catching Cabbage with a knee followed by a series of punches. Silva is definitely going to be a force in MMA!

Match 5: Renzo Gracie defeated Frank Shamrock by disqualification. Renzo was dominating the fight on the ground, and was the definite Round 1 winner in my opinion. In Round 2, Renzo was dominating on the ground again in side mount while Shamrock was throwing up knees. Unfortunately, 2 of those knees hit Gracie on the back of the neck and head, which is illegal in MMA in America. Gracie was hurt pretty badly. Referee Herb Dean deducted a point from Shamrock and gave Gracie five minutes to recover. Shamrock walked around the ring smirking and talking trash, saying that if Gracie "wanted to wresle, he should have stayed home". ( I hope Phil Baroni knocks him out!) Gracie was unable to continue and since the illegal move is what ended the match, Gracie was given the win by DQ. Shamrock was unapologetic and claimed to now know MMA's "new rules". (The rules about kneeing are very different in Japan) When asked about a rematch, he said "Are you kidding? I didn't even break a sweat!" He badmouthed Renzo Gracie for "quitting like that". I know trash talk is part of MMA, but I am really disappointed in the way that Frank Shamrock conducted himself.

Despite the end, it was definitely a good show! Bill Goldberg has a bit of an ego, though. During the women's fight, when Renallo made a statement about how these women could kick a man's butt, Goldberg made sure to interject that they couldn't kick his! Seems pretty insecure to have to jump in with a statement like that. But he did do a good job at analyzing the fights, and he seems to enjoy what he's doing. He did show some humility later on by saying that what has happening in the cage was real, and "what I did was fake". Renallo and Glazer did a great job, too.
