So, I went to a funeral today...
He was the father of my oldest friend. We've been friends since I was a month old. Her dad was one of those rare men. He saw the person. He didn't care about the other stuff. He was also one of those true Christian men it's hard to believe really exist, one of the few that actually walked the walk instead of a lot of lip service. He wasn't pretentious, nor did he think that he was better than anyone. He was a part of The Rotary Club, serving as president at some point. He was the Mayor of Kingfisher, my hometown. He passed away of chronic lung problems. This was a man who was loved by everyone. He had been a registered republican for a while, but you know, no one ever cared about his political affiliations. He truly loved Kingfisher, his family, and the community. He was one of those rare men who truly exemplified the human spirit.
So tonight, I raise my glass to Mr. Flood. He was a true friend, wonderful father, extraordinary Mayor, and just all round good guy. His family is taking everything really hard, as is most of the town. He was the greeter at the church I grew up in, and walking through those doors on Sunday morning will never be the same again to anyone. Please tonight, when you have a second, please send some good thoughts or lend a comforting prayer to his family. It's going to be rough. Thanks.
Duckie

7. All that he was, all that he is...now lives in you
He left you a gift in the same way that someone once left one for him. Call it any name you like, strength, honesty, integrity,....Carry it on...its yours now.

11. Good thoughts and prayers to the family
Wasn't he the banker there for 30 or 40 years? I seem to remember that name as the banker my aunt knew and did business with.

20. No
My aunt wasn't from Kingfisher. My aunt & uncle were in the cattle business so they were lifetime supporters of FFA & 4-H. They preferred doing business with bankers that supported FFA & 4-H, which Mr. Flood must have.

19. Well, I was at about 20,000 feet.
I went through USAF pilot training at Vance AFB in Enid.
Back in the early 60s.
I was there for about a year.

We used the Kingfisher VOR navaid for some of our instrument work.
