97. I came home and my neighbor had used the snowblower on my drive
He's a good dude.

It was pretty shitty down 480 on the way home, took me about 40 minutes instead of my usual 10. I'm thinking tomorrow may be a snow day for me. I used to not mind this shit, but as I get older, I get less tolerant of it. :)

The wind gusts we had here in Chicago were frighteningly strong. I just saw Cleveland on NBC news and it looks like you're getting the same, with the added bonus of lake effect snow! :scared:

I'm ok, RKZ. It was a nioe "brisk" walk from the Granville CTA stop to my place. But I'm now ensconced in my warm apartment.

Good-o on skipping school. I work at a "university in the Loop" (hell, you know what I'm talking about). They canceled classes in Schaumburg. They probably will at the downtown campus as well.

Chicago, as you know, is in Cook County.

BTW, from the National Weather Service:

Blizzard Warning - Sustained winds or frequent gusts of 35 mph or greater, considerable falling and/or blowing snow reducing visibility frequently to 1/4 mile or less for a period of three hours or more. There are no temperature criteria in the definition of a blizzard but freezing temperatures and 35 mph winds will create sub-zero wind chills.

I'd move there in a skinny minute if I could. But my ex and son are here in the Sun Belt... I mean Bible Belt, so I'm not going anywhere for at least 8 to 10 years. But, I'm guessing that Chicago will still be there and great when I'm ready to move. It's either Chicago or Alaska, I haven't decided yet. Both are cold, but the music is hot in Chicago.

31. That's why I decided to skip work today. It just won't stop snowing!
I've been out shoveling a few times already and just about to say to heck with it. Got my fingers crossed that my wife makes it home at a somewhat decent hour, they've done next to nothing for plowing the streets around here.

it was a beautiful July day. And the city was pretty much gleaming, if cities can gleam. I was just a West Coast indoctrinate and not all prepared for how beautiful Chicago was. No one ever told me how lovely downtown and the waterfront was.

... The last time it snowed was in 1979 when Michael Bilandic was mayor. He couldn't get all that snow off the streets, so Jayne Byrne got voted in. As mayor, she single-handedly solved the city's snow problem. It's been good ever since.

soon as I crossed Devon on Lincoln it got WAAAAAAAY worse. Lincolnwood must have the worst budget ever, they can't even plow the main streets. What a nightmare.
