William Shatner's Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Wow. Just Wow. Followed by Leonard Nimoy's The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins and his version of I Walk the Line.

It is just indescribable. Truly something that must be heard to be believed.

It always amuses me when I have had a little wine (but not nearly enough!)

8. And keep in mind...Shatner was deadly serious when he did it, too.
This was BEFORE he realized how much cash he could make if he parodied himself.
This was when he thought he was some sort of creative genius.

9. I just love him on Boston Legal
Those songs are genius in way he never intended.

i can't explain Leonard Nimoy though. He just did those songs straight out, but he isn't a very good singer.

11. It is very strange
Maybe you need to be on acid to appreciate it. I thought it would be more literal, like with actual hobbits. Instead it's some weird 60's "Up with People" kind of thing.

14. I remember hearing "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" on Dr. Demento
... lo these many years ago, when he had a FOUR HOUR show every Sunday night on 94.7- KMET...the Mighty Met.

Shatner's Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds ranked right up there with Mae West singing Day tripper.

Fish Heads. The Ballad of Irving. Pico and Sepulveda. Tubas in the Moonlight. The Great Crepitation Contest. Spike Jones...

I MISS DR. DEMENTO!!
