To my friends in the lounge.
I just wanted to update you on my friend 'L's doctor appointment yesterday.

The appointment went as I had thought it might, but with a twist. It turned out that her doctor was comparing her current scan with one taken in August. Of course she's worse!

Anyway, the decision was deferred for a couple of weeks. She'll have her chemo as usual, and the scans will be repeated in early March. Then a more informed opinion can be made.

Thanks for looking.

5. This Is The Friend
that is also your husband's ex that lives with you...

and your husband is in denial about her condition.

So, what does this mean in terms of her cancer. She's worse because he was comparing her scan with one made in August. So her cancer isn't responding to the chemo she's been getting, why are they doing another round of chemo before they make a determination about her? It seems that if she isn't responding and getting worse, then they would be able to say, this isn't working, the tumor has become chemo resistant (to that particular chemo) and consider another approach.

Oncologists

don't always understand how they think.

6. I think that...
...it's because she hasn't had a scan since August that her oncologist wants to wait and see. I think she should have been getting periodic scans all along, but what do I know?
