2. Yes, you can
When my wife was growing up her family owned a goat and she drank goat milk every day. She did not like it either.

Goat milk is a more common beverage throughout the world than cow's milk. It's better for the environment, too.

10. Me? No, I need "Goat Milking for Dummies"
Others have the skill and knowledge to milk goats and survive the encounter.

I haven't had the pleasure of that experience yet.

Good luck, though, and try not to get kicked.

14. I'm surprised no one told you...
.. but it's the source of greek Feta cheese, used in the finest lasagna...
Goat's milk is also far more digestible than cow's milk, and, as the sugars are more easily broken down in the body, is frequently recommended for children (and adults) who are lactose intolerant.
They used to teach goat milking at the Puyallup Fair!

16. That's why I use it
The goat milk dairy here is awesome, the milk is fabulous - not like others I've tried before (yucky!). It's also whole milk, so I only use it with my cereal. For drinking, or fruit shakes, I use Almond milk.

Also have goat yoghurt, and a number of goat cheeses, including mozza, cheddar (white and marbled), feta (not all feta being sold is goat, however) brie and gouda. (and pecorino-romano, sheep's milk cheese, but that's another thread) ;)

19. "...not all feta being sold is goat..."
Too true! But my sister/ex, descendant of a long line of Greek restauranteurs, informs me that REAL feta is goat cheese... anything else is feta-STYLE, in her not-at-all-humble opinion!
I do NOT argue with this woman, especially about food!

21. She is correct!
Most in the US and Canada seem to be terrified of anything other than cow's milk products.

I love the Italian and Middle Eastern groceries, because they have such a great variety of goat and sheep products. I've gotten a couple of friends hooked on these other cheeses because of their wonderful flavour.

:loveya: :hi:

20. Yes, I've done it myself
Nothing like a fresh cup of coffee at five in the morning, with a couple of squirts of goat milk straight from the teat to the cup.

Ranch life in Mexico, what can I tell ya'
