I swore that I'd never do this, but I'm just really blue and can't shake it. Most of the time, just hanging around in the Lounge picks me up, but I guess I need more than that tonight. :(

I'm sure I'll bounce back. My life is kind of a "Tilt-A-Whirl" right now (roller coaster doesn't do it justice). Once the ride stops and I can get off, I'm gonna be looking for something calmer -- like a Carousel with some happy music to boot.

26. For years and years I wrote poetry and short stories
then I married, became a father, got caught up in the corporate machinery, and stopped writing. I've made a number of tries about getting back into the habit. It's kind of like working out -- once you get out of the habit, it's hard to start up again. As it is, I'm trying to get back into the habit of working out, too.

I know how hard that can be. I have returned to writing my doctoral dissertation after nearly 20 years away from it, so I know what you mean about getting out of the habit. Reestablishing that habit ain't easy!

The tough part was Thursday night, but the response has been so overwhelming that the thread has stayed alive into this evening. Part of that is because I wanted to make sure that I thanked everyone who gave hugs (never having asked for hugs before, I'm not quite sure of the protocol). It's been very humbling and gratifying all at the same time.

Overall I'm doing better. The feeling is still hanging around in the background, but for me melancholy is never far away. It's been my companion for so long, that I've gotten used to it. Sometimes though, it's bitch and kicks me hard. That was Thursday night. Friday was better, and here early Saturday morning it's better still. I'll call it a night soon, and hopefully I'll wake with the melancholy back in its proper place.

Thanks for the encouragment and the BIG hugs.

That's lovely. Roses are one of my favorite flowers. I've never been able to get them to grow, but I always enjoy seeing them. Right now my living room smells of roses because my older daughter just turned 16, and her grandfather (my dad) brought her 16 red roses. It was really sweet to see them together -- she's his oldest grandchild, so that made it all a little more special.

Thanks for the rose, and the hug. I really appreciate them.

Busy, and am about to get even more so.


I want the snow to GO AWAY!!! I I usually think snowfalls are beautiful, but I'm tired of them, and of cleaning my car off.

I think I'll live up to my name x1000 once spring comes. I usually get a bit hyper in the spring, anyway; if I can stay in my skin this year, I'll consider it a success. :silly:
