Poll question: When I think of Superman, I think...
My own copycat.

George Reeves

Christopher Reeve (the obvious choice)

Dean Cain (yeah, right)

Tom Welling (technically not yet Superman, since he's still Clark Kent/Kal-El)

Brandon Routh (I think he did a good job, IMO)

But for me, Christopher Reeve was the definitive Superman.

11. You should see him on the cover of this month's Smallville magazine.

Pretty boy! He's wearing more make-up than Erica Durance!

5. Always has been, always will be
Christopher Reeve.

He just can't be beaten in that role. But, I love the fact that he made a guest appearance in Smallville. What a great way to pay homage to the definitive superhero!

16. That was a great episode.
I like how actors from the original films(Reeve, Margot Kidder, Terence Stamp) have made appearances over the years.

6. There's Reeve, and then there's everyone else
Karloff was the Creature; Reeve was the Man of Steel. And like Boris, Reeve got his two great showcases (well, 2.5 if you count the recent Richard Donner cut of II).

I liked Routh plenty, but he could do only so much with an excessively morose tone and a co-star constructed out of cardboard (Bosworth). Reeve shined like a nova, and was blessed with Margot Kidder.

7. I grew up watching Reeve, but I've moved on to Routh. Reeve would have wanted it that way.
"It's about hope. It's about what friendship means. It's about leadership. It's about discovering yourself. And all of those things are relevant to every generation. I'm glad that the character (of Superman) has survived the test of time, and will always be re-invented for each generation."
-Christopher Reeve

Plus, I think Routh is really hot (no pun intended) when he uses his heat-vision!

:P

9. Chris Reeve gave me the courage to leave my first marriage.
It was a good choice and needed doing. I know, he was only a movie character, but it gave me the courage to believe that perhaps there are nice guys out there and I didn't need to continue living with a drug abusing drinking ne'er do well. I vote Chris, a class act the whole way round.

12. That doesn't sound silly at all
I had no male role model growing up, so I looked to the characters assayed by Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Christopher Reeve, and Liam Neeson. Real men, those ones.

10. Did not like Routh at ALL.
I thought he was a passable Clark Kent, but man, I was not feeling his Superman at all.

He tried to channel Reeves a bit too much and he paled, IMO.

Weiling is really good.
