Are you better at arguing now than you were in 2000?

After six years of arguing (I can't really call it debating) on this site and in real life, I'm much better at deflecting, changing the subject, double entendres and going on the offensive. Anyone else?

I've always thought a good arguement didn't involve those things-maybe that's what you mean by referencing debate.

Anyway, the last six years forced me to look at America more intensely, come to conclusions away from the american exceptionalism route, and being that I live in red territory hell, have had to get better at arguing.

Or it's just trying to 'win' by any means possible. Nothing to do with arguing the merits of a point of view, which is seldom seen nowadays.

I have lost all desire to argue. I may sometimes post a hot reply to something I find particularly objectionable, but I always lose the taste for an argument and run away.

I then spend the next 48 hours pretending not to see that my post has a reply in My DU.
